A bit like reading Stanley Unwin but all good fun.

In his Own Wright. By John Lennon.
I bought this book a few weeks ago. I haven’t read it all yet. But, it’s full of funny little stories and poems. What I’ve read looks typical John Lennon type of stuff. Some of the words are spelt wrongly for comic effect. Very funny. Nice to sit and read when there’s nothing else to do. This book is very short and shouldn’t take too long to read. Recommended.

Worth the price
This is in a similar style to Spaniard in the Works although in my opinion not as funny but I bought both of then simply because the price was so reasonable.

Amazingly good product
Very good quality, an excellent read, came promptly.... Really great! It is worth pointing out though that if you're not one for understanding gobbledygook this one's definitely a challenge, but if you are then this one's a winner!!

Brilliant
Maybe not to everyone's taste but most definitely suits my off-the-wall humour. There are some wonderful pieces. Some, at first glance, may look like nonsense, but read them out loud until you find the right pronunciation that will put you on John's wavelength - then you'll be rolling round the floor laughing.

A blast from the past
I enjoyed this as a teenager and it is typical of John Lennon's wit. Being much older it does come over a bit juvenile and a copy of Spike Milligan's stuff. However, it brings back fond memories and I am glad I bought it.

A thought-provoking punfest of linguistic genius
Lennon demonstrates a most compelling outlook on social culture through his unique, inimitable brand of witticism. Writing was his first love and I firmly believe that his contribution to our language's enormous array of fascinating wealth is indelible.

He's Not A Girl Who Misses Much
I've always had trouble working out why anyone who would leave a blonde hottie like Cynthia for Yoko could be labeled a genius, but it's clear John Lennons mind could go to weird and wonderful places, with or without chemical assistance, and in this quirky collection, it clearly does. Seemingly influenced by Stanley Unwin (or perhaps he influenced Stanley Unwin) I didn't always find it an easy read, but it was both fascinating and amusing all the same, with drawings as equally off the wall as the writings.No-one he thought was in his tree, I mean it must be high or low, or perhaps he was just out of his tree

Quirky wordplay…
I decided to reread this book when a certain fly gained fame by interjecting himself into a recent political debate. “There were no flies on Frank that morning” was all I could think as this fly made his statement on every channel on national TV. That motivated me to read this book again. This is such a quirky book, maybe a peek inside John Lennon’s mind. Many stories are very dark and twisted but the delight of the book is his use of wordplay. The way he exchanges one word for another and still conveys the meaning without missing a beat is like magic. I was a teen when this was first published and we devoured it, reading and rereading on so many afternoons after school. I had not even recalled the dark and twisted nature of his stories, all I remembered was his use and manipulation of language. My friends and I appropriated some of his tag lines and use them to this day. Several of the phrases we use are just part of our language and I had forgotten the source until I reread the book. This book isn’t for everyone. You have to like quirky and wordplay. But, if you can open your mind to alternate use of language you may enjoy this book.
