Cracking album with plenty of bangers! (Sorry, sorry, sorry :-) )
Bonfire's 1987 album "Fireworks" nearly, and should have, made them worldwide rock superstars....why it didn't is still a mystery! In the UK in 1986 and 1987 rock bands, and their respective albums, such as Bon Jovi ("Slippery When Wet"); Def Leppard ("Hysteria"); Whitesnake ("1987"); Heart ("Bad Animals") and Fleetwood Mac ("Tango In The Night") were taking over both the charts and the airwaves. It did seem that commercial radio stations were reluctant to play anymore rock music than was necessary so newer bands, like Bonfire, faced a backlash which meant that a lot of great rock albums and songs went unheard.Heralding from Germany Bonfire were inevitably compared to The Scorpions, although the only 'Scorpionesque' song on the album is "Rock Me Now", although the band did have a sound of their own. Maybe there's a touch of UFO; Sweet and the harder edge of Bon Jovi in their style to give a 'rough' guide.Surprisingly one of the weakest songs on the album, "Sweet Obsession" was released as a single, a song that was co-written with Joe Lynn Turner, it's okay but there are much better on "Fireworks". "Never Mind"; "Champion" and "American Nights" would have made far superior singles. Also to be found on the album are slower songs such as the amazing "Fantasy" and "Give It A Try"; if Bon Jovi had released the latter as a single it would have been a worldwide hit! It's great to have some live bonus tracks too, especially the awesome "S.D.I." from their first album "Don't Touch The Light", although you may want to wind on/ skip the live version of "American Nights" as it has a compere's boring introduction just shy of 2 minutes.....Bonfire should have been huge, their next album "Point Blank", which should have taken them to the 'next level' was a bit patchy and didn't really build on "Fireworks", but Bonfire are a band that it's worth backtracking on starting with "Fireworks" and then their first album "Don't Touch The Light".....

Better than I remember.
I bought this on cassette all those years ago. Played the entire album on then a cassette / radio plastic 'boom box'.I still have the cassette and it sounds good on my high end Denon 3 head HiFi through class A amplifier. This CD is re-mastered version which is considerably clearer sound quality through my separate CD transport and PDM DAC. A fantastic album!! Might order their next album as I have it on original vinyl fully autographed.

I had to buy it
As a member of the firework display team for a local bonfire society, I had to buy this album. They are a typical metal band of the type but the album is a good listen.

Superb Firework Album
Superb album from Bonfire - probably one of their best - purchased on tape when it was first released and played it to death - thought it was time to update to CD. It's been remastered and now includes a number of additional live tracks which makes it even better!

A great early album
A great album from way back in 1987 and another great value for money at nearly 78 minutes long. Highly recommended.

Brilliant
Absolute classic, every song is a belter with great melody and memorable riffs. This is up there with the likes of Hysteria and whitesnake 1987,
