So comfortable straight from the box - very hard-wearing too
I've worn Clarks shoes for nearly 50 years and always find them to be well-presented, high-quality and consistently sized. I was attracted to the 'Funny Dream' range not by their rather strange name but from having their earlier predecessors, the Polyveldts back in the early 1980s. They were quite innovative in their day and I remember how they were almost impossible to wear out. These 'Funny Dream' successors are made from high quality leather and the same spongy rubber soles which are so comfortable to walk in on any surface and particularly hard floors where every step is cushioned. Although they don't have grooved tread on the sole, they are non-slip so can be happily worn on a polished floor or staircase with no danger of skidding - or even on a wet floor. This 'nude' pair are made from light leather with a light leather lining and a patterned section on the top. There's a cushioned inner sole and, following a few wears, this moulds itself to the shape of your feet and there's a further cushioned pad beneath the heel. They are comfortable straight from the box with no need to break them in although my pair felt slightly bigger than pairs in other colours - but I'm only talking 1-2mm. They are supplied fitted with leather and a spare pair of cream colour laces are included too.Definitely recommended. They're not the cheapest shoes but they last for years.

Lovely shoes, just not wide enough
These shoes would have been perfect for work if they had been a bit wider, however I do have wide feet so maybe it was me. The quality was good and they did feel comfortable. Sadly I had to return them.

I therefore came home and searched for Funny Dream shoes
I read previous reviews for this shoe after having tried a pair on in a Clarks shoe shop. Generally speaking I take a 5.5 in Clarks shoes, but this size was too short. I therefore came home and searched for Funny Dream shoes. The reviews confirmed my findings, that in this case I needed to order a size 6. Size 6 is just right and, thankfully, the width is fine as well (standard). More often than not different width options are stated, but rarely available. These shoes are very comfortable and there has been no need to "break them in". Clarks used to be a name you could reply on without reservation (like M & S), but these days it can be a bit hit and miss with extremely hard/unforgiving leather being used causing pain and discomfort initially. Clarks un-loop shoes are ample in width but they have skimped on the length of the elastic under the "tongue" and this has caused a lot of people discomfort. I am very pleased with my purchase. The colour description (sage) I think is a bit misleading (the colour is more like a mid grey), but having seen these in the shops I knew what to expect. They have a summery feel and go well with jeans and other trousers. I do wish, however, that shoe manufacturers would offer more shoes that have their soles firmly on the ground - I am not a lover of the "toe in the air/court jester" look.

For Blokes Too!
Its frustrating that these shoes are advertised as 'women's shoes'. I stumbled upon these whilst searching for a replacement pair of everyday shoes - my current pair were falling apart after less than a years wear. I have fond memories of Clarks 'pastie' shoes worn as a kid and spent a happy few minutes down memory lane viewing images of these comfortable, almost indestructible favourites. Several images sprang up advertising 'funny dreams' which look similar and I was excited to think that they were still available. My excitement was dashed when I discovered they were 'women's shoes' .... however, not to be outdone, I googled information on shoe sizing and discovered that shoe sizing in the EU and UK are in fact unisex. I ordered a pair of size 8 [my normal size] in black, received them the following day and they fit perfectly. I will be ordering a second pair next week and will keep an eye open for these shoes in brown/tan if the become available. I think Clarks are missing a trick by marketing these excellent shoes solely at women.

Comfort
Comfort at its best. Wide toebox and rubber sole make these shoes feel just made for you. I have purchased three different colours, these are my walking shoes over and above all the 'good' trainers I own. Worth every penny. Would buy every colour if I could afford too. They are also stylish, the grey ones have a lovely design on the leather. The laces even have a soft sturdy feel as well. These are shoes that when you take them off you don't see marks on your feet, that means your feet have a natural room to move. You can wear them in town or over slightly rough terrain when in forest parks etc and they meet all your comfort needs.
