Adventures Into Terror: The Atlas Comics Library (ATLAS COMICS LIBRARY HC)

Before marvel there was atlas
Marvel changed it name like five times, before settling down on marvel comics group. And this book is reprinting a small sample of the atlas horror stories. Not as well done as the EC titles from that same era. But no less fun and creepy. You will see some familiar names like Don Heck, Gene Colon, Joe Simon and yes Jack Kirby just to name a few. If you like classic horror this is for you. A nice hardcover book with fun spooky stories.

This is how archives should be!
This book chronicles a 1950s Marvel comic series with superb reproductions of the original issues, lovingly and painstakingly refreshed. Dr. Vasello's informative introduction enhances the volume. This book was assembled by professionals who not only appreciate the material and the era but have an obvious love for the subject. This volume will be the only option many of us will have to own the books, as they are turning up less and less on the secondary market. As a fellow historian, I highly recommend this book to anyone with an interest in comic books.

A terrific series, great historical perspective
This is just excellent — from the quality of the reproductions to the essay at the outset by Dr. Vassallo. It’s hard to believe this guy is a dentist, because his knowledge of comic history, and this era of illustrators is top-notch. This book is definitely worth the money.

Oversized for no reason.
When I saw the size of the book, I was excited. However, when I opened it up the artwork was standard size. In other words the book was presented in an oversized format just too provide larger borders...also known as blank space...pointless!

This is how to do it
I’m very impressed with the job Fantagraphics has done with this volume. The loving detail put into the reproduction and design of the book is to be commended. Highly recommended!

Addressing the white border situation
The last reviewer pointed out something already known to the publisher, discovered “after” the book went to print. It was an error, already corrected for all future volumes.

Kinda' scary...
...but what do you expect from a cheesy collection of horror?

Worth a read
I wasn't familiar with any of these, the content is pretty good. If you can get it at a decent price you won't be disappointed.

Great Find
Nice to see a book to expose other golden age horror comics that we may not know like EC comics. I like the stories, they were very good and the art is excellent. The paper quality is ok, the colour is ok, only complaint is I wished Marvel would have used the margins better, making the art work larger. Overall a great book at a awesome price. I will grab the next volume.
