You will need to push the power button to restart the mister.

Yes I do not use lights or sleep mode

The aroma pad is just a small piece of felt that sits in a plastic tray. If you used up the three that come with the machine it would be a simple matter to make new ones with scissors and felt from the craft store

No, no white film that I've encountered. I use distilled water and it works just fine. Sorry I don't have anything more.
