Survival Hax 6” Fire Starter Flint with Waterproof Tinder Holder and Whistle

The ferro rod is amazing but I had to take one star out the review because of 2 reasons...1) The “paracord” lanyard is of very poor quality.2) The clip-on plastic thingy with the whistle is also very bad quality and if it snaps open is nearly impossible to close back up.Overall I would still recommend this product with my eyes closed to everyone that wants a large ferro rod and doesn’t care about the little gimmicks.

This flint stick is going to save someones life. Probably not mine because I already lost it somewhere.

I bought this handy survival item for our emergency ditch bag in case we have to leave our boat in a hurry and we get stranded in a remote place. What's cool is it compact while containing everything you need to generate a spark to light your tinder. Fire means survival.

This is the only ferro rod I tried out in my living room and immediately decided to stop trying out in my living room lest I start a fire. It casts large, hot sparks. Also easy to hold and control even without a handle. Striker works, too.

Once the fire starter was delivered I tried it out. Scraped off some of the black coating on the rod and then used the metal scraper to kick off some sparks. It was very easy to generate several large sparks that would make starting a fire fairly simple.

Very good! I keep a this in each of my deployment packs. Also taught the kids how to make fire. Super easy.

Compact and ready to go. I especially like the waterproof tinder container and lanyard.
