Broner used to sell good captain's hats. I've worn them daily for decades. I received this new black hat yesterday. What a huge disappointment in comparison to the past. This is a CHEAP costume hat! I compared it with my old blue Broner Captain's hat from my large collection. My "Old blue" Broner hat was purchased about 15 years ago: Old blue- Made in USA; Black- made in CHINA. Old Blue has impressive shiny metallic gold trim and golden metal hardware...as seen on professional and military officer's hats. Black has CHEAP yellow fabric trim. Old Blue has thick fabric, heavy, well-made seams and stitching, Black has super-thin, flimsy CHEAP fabric and CHEAP stitching work. Old Blue has a vinyl head liner inside to prevent stains, Black has no lining at all-just the CHEAP thin fabric. Bottom line: No serious Captain or Yachtsman would be caught dead wearing this embarrassing CHEAP "pretend" costume hat. The ONLY thing that did not scream CHEAP about this Black Broner hat was its price!!!! But its GREAT for a frat party, etc....albeit about 2x the price of other similar "party" hats sold on this site.

Just like in the picture

I love this hat and get compliments on it whenever I wear it. The crown is more like that of Skipper’s hat from Gilligan’s Island than a cruise ship captain’s hat, but it’s still really cute nonetheless. The fit is perfectly fine.
