Horrible Customer Service if product is defective
My experience with Cuddeback's customer service is -10. They only care about making a sell and DO NOT stand behind their products or "do the right thing" when they fall short. After months of following their troubleshooting stall tactics, I ultimately had to resort to reaching out to my credit card company in an attempt to resolve my issues. Following are the specifics. I am writing to formally request a chargeback for the amount of $1,639.42 related to my purchases from Cuddeback (also known as Nontypical Inc.). The products I purchased have consistently failed to perform as advertised, and Cuddeback's customer service has been unwilling to provide a satisfactory resolution despite numerous attempts on my part to address the issues. ________________________________________ Summary of Purchases: • February 28, 2024: 6 CuddeLink units ($1,114.98) • May 17, 2024: Cellular plan for CuddeLink units ($389.70) • July 30, 2024: 3 external battery cables ($76.03) • October 8, 2024: 3 additional external battery cables ($58.71) Total: $1,639.42 ________________________________________ Background and Timeline: 1. February 28, 2024: Purchased a CuddeLink system (1 Home Cell and 5 cellular cameras) based on Cuddeback’s claims that cameras would reliably sync to the Home Cell unit with a signal strength of 20 or greater. 2. May 17, 2024: Deployed the cameras on my property in Oklahoma (200 miles from my permanent residence) and confirmed that each camera had a signal strength of 50 to 95. Returned home and, after the 24-hour sync period, discovered that only three cameras successfully synced. 3. May 20, 2024: Contacted Cuddeback Customer Service. I was instructed to replace all SD cards with high-speed SanDisk SD cards. 4. June 29, 2024: Returned to the property, replaced the SD cards as instructed, and confirmed the original cards were already compliant. Despite this, the issue persisted. 5. July 1, 2024: Contacted Customer Service again. I was told to turn off all cameras and the Home Cell unit, remove the batteries, restart the system, and reconnect all cameras. To address the high cost of D-cell batteries required for the cameras, I also purchased external battery cables and 12-volt batteries. 6. August 22, 2024: Returned to the property, followed all troubleshooting steps, and installed the external batteries. After another 24-hour sync period, the issue remained unresolved. 7. August 23, 2024: Contacted Customer Service. They advised me to return the cameras for repair or replacement. I noted that one external battery cable appeared defective out of the box. 8. October 1, 2024: Removed all equipment from the property and requested a Return Authorization Number (RMA). I also expressed my preference for a refund due to the repeated failures and unresolved issues. Customer Service acknowledged my concerns but informed me of their 30-day return policy. Despite this, they provided an RMA number for the return. 9. November 4, 2024: Shipped the equipment back to Cuddeback at my expense ($50.27). 10. November 20, 2024: Customer Service called to inform me that a refund would not be issued because the return was beyond their 30-day window. I emphasized the extraordinary nature of the situation, but they refused to reconsider. 11. December 9, 2024: Received the returned items, which had not been repaired. During testing, I confirmed that the external battery cable remained defective. Customer Service once again refused to replace it, citing their return policy. ________________________________________ Reason for Chargeback: The CuddeLink system failed to perform as advertised. Despite diligently following all troubleshooting instructions provided by Cuddeback’s Customer Service, including: • Replacing SD cards with high-speed SanDisk SD cards (at my expense), • Restarting and reconfiguring the entire system, • Installing external batteries to address power issues (at my expense), The issues persisted. Additionally: • The company refused to repair or replace defective units, returning them in the same non-functional state. • They refused to replace a defective $15 external battery cable that never worked, citing their return policy. • In addition to the expenses listed above, I have additional travel, shipping expenses, and battery purchases that equates to several hundred dollars that am I not requesting to be reimbursed for. Cuddeback’s response to this situation has been inadequate and unprofessional, leaving me with defective products despite my significant financial investment and efforts to resolve the issues. ________________________________________ Conclusion: Due to Cuddeback’s failure to fulfill their advertised claims and their unwillingness to resolve the issues, I am requesting a chargeback for the total amount of $1,639.42. The defective products are available for pickup at my home, and I am willing to return them should Cuddeback provide a call tag. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
