The SVTCAM was the perfect solution for my 5th wheel backup camera needs
The SVTCAM was the perfect solution for my 5th wheel backup camera needs. My new 29.5' Jayco was pre-wired for a backup camera to mounted on the rear of the unit, but I wanted to be able to use one WiFi camera that projected the image to my phone. I have multiple electronic displays in my truck cab, and wanted to use the phone in lieu of adding another dedicated video screen to a backup camera. Additionally, I wanted to use the same camera to aid in connecting the 5th wheel hitch to the pin box. So I needed a dual use, portable camera system. Here is my solution. My Jayco is pre-wired for towing from the rear bumper which included a standard 4-pin trailer electrical connection under the back bumper. So I spliced a standard 4 pin trailer harness (http://a.co/fP4DQKa) to the power cable of the SCTCAM, leaving a 1' cord (SVTCAM wire is black and red, attach black to white, and red to brown on the 4-pin wiring harness). I attached two magnets (http://a.co/cIStM01) to the base of the camera and covered them with duct tape (to protect the Jayco bumper paint). I plugged the camera into the 4-pin connection on the rear bumper and it powers up. The unit easily transmits to the phone on the dash while driving. I can watch traffic behind the 5th wheel while driving. It is perfect for backing. Secondly, I added a 7-pin to 4-pin adapter and a 4' 4-pin harness extension to power the unit while it is attached near the cab-mounted brake light. The last photo is an actual screenshot from the SVTCAM while it was attached to the cab of my Silverado. This gives the camera perspective and allows for attaching the hitch to the pin box without looking out the rear window of the tow vehicle. 10 stars for me! And less than $110 total in parts, wiring, and the camera. Throw in a rag between the magnets and the paint on your truck.

Spend more on a good quality or name brand
While I am aware this is a BUDGET camera, this falls so short it nearly face plants.First, instructions are mediocreIt doesn’t come with connectors like some other brands (clearly a convenience in the price point).Picture quality is crap; you can see the image, but don’t expect true colors, or for it to be useful at night. The infrared LED lights only illuminate about 3-feet worth of space, so you’re just as likely to back into or off of whatever in the dark.Plenty of wire, but needs an optional (or included) antenna cable.I mounted on the back of my 18-ft box trailer, (so it’s under 35-ft from camera to phone) and can’t get a signal unless I’m “kinked” or in a turn. Antenna extension may solve this, but it’s not the standard coax size.Refresh rate is poor, likely due to signal strength (or lack thereof). Finally, the app they recommend is total garbage. It works, barely. It says WATERPROOF to the current standards, but seeing construction, there is No WAY that’s possible.I live in PAC-NW, so i expect water in the lens in a year or less, even after post-install sealing the edges and everything. Also, for those considering two with one for a fwd facing, note the image is reversed and cannot be in-reversed.I don’t recommend this, and nearly regret it for use as a back-up camera for my box trailer. Get a reputable brand and spend about twice as much and you’ll be way happier than having to buy twice (this and then a good one).

Great camera!
Great product! I have had cameras like this but without wireless capabilities. I thought I would give it a try after looking at the reviews. I experimented with it to see how it works, and the range of the wireless capabilities, and found out that it works very well. The unit works! It has a sturdy, rugged, and durable feel. The mounting was easy, however you may need to separate the camera from the mounting brackets to put it in a tight spot. Don't lose the hex screws! I found it a little challenge to get these back into the camera holes after my mounting, but was able with a little patience. I do wish you could get the phone/tablet app to flip the image as I am using it as a front facing camera. Not a real biggie as I am basically using it on my SUV to scan the front end for objects and parking due to having a bull bar for safety purposes. All in all, I am pleased with this!

No blind spots when backing up.
Mounted on the rear of my 5th wheel RV. It connects to my phone or tablet with no problems. It gives a clear image of whats behind me. Connected the power supply to the rv marker lights so that I can turn the camera on or off as I wish. Love it..UPDATE, Since I've had this camera we have traveled with the rv over 1100 miles. The camera has worked flawlessly. Not only is it great for backing into those tight rv sites I can also keep also keep an eye on my blind spot when traveling. It's nice to be able to see if someone is tailgating. This camera has added another layer of safety when towing my Montana. Highly recommended.

Not Waterproof - after 2 1/2 months it is unusable
I had had this now for about 2 1/2 months and it worked well for most of that time. Now the output is a blur and it has quite a bit of water pooled inside. It is not waterproof so in my application it will not be usable and I will be looking elsewhere for a replacement . I live in the Pacific Northwest and anything outside would need to be able to withstand water much better than this camera has done. It's a shame as I was quite happy with it's performance otherwise. I suppose if this was known ahead of time I could have tried extreme measures to ensure the unit was sealed but the description lists an IP69 Waterproof rating which should cover the the environment I have placed it in.
