World Rhythm11 Inch Rope Tuned Djembe Drum – Red African Synthetic Hand Drum

Stunning, sturdy instrument, perfect for a beginner like me!
I had a djembe drum over ten years ago, but it was one of those cheaply made ones that served more as a decorative piece than a quality-sounding instrument. I bought this particular drum to expand my collection of instruments and to learn something new! Yes, it's slightly more expensive than other drums of its size, but I can see why - the wood it's made from is thick, durable and very solid, and the skin is real goatskin.I've only played a little bit on it, practicing how to strike the drum and making basic rhythms on it, but I'm thrilled with how robust it sounds and as an added bonus, it looks impressive on my shelf. For a beginner that wants an instrument that will last, I'd recommend this djembe drum!

Good value for money..
For the money this is a good size and is lovely and light for carrying around, unlike my genuine wooden African one. I have smaller versions of world rhythm djembes and they are really good for children or learners to get used to the different sounds they can make from the skin. Speaking of which, the 'skin' is synthetic(I think) and thinner than the ethnic versions therefore it doesn't give as bass-y a sound. However, having taken it on a 5-day family event that was travelling from village to village it was really sturdy yet easy to carry around and I felt happy to let young people play it without worrying about it getting damaged. I would much rather have one of these than a smaller wooden one - they are more versatile than you might expect...

Disappointed! Now Happy !
Arrived in a grubby state with a split skin the box was undamaged so it must have been sent out like that ! They are good drums if you get a good one ! Update ! Had a full refund and Re- ordered . I'm pleased to say this one arrived in good condition ! It has a goatskin head and a synthetic base , it has a good base sound and high slap tones .The great thing is it's light to carry around !

Looks good sounds good but needs a carry bag
I thought that it would come with a carry case sadly it did not. This makes it more vulnerable when travelling

Better than a wooden drum!
I've played djembe in children's workshops for years although I'm not specifically drummer. However, carrying heavy drums around is tiring for me so I sold mine. Seeing this I thought it worth seeing try and being on offer that week I couldn't resist the colours which matched my front room. I was not disappointed! The sound is rich and has a better range of sounds than my former wooden drum. It's loud and takes less effort to play - what a joy!
