Practice Makes Perfect: A Novel: 2 (Rome, Kentucky)

This book surprised me in the best way. What looks like a light rom-com slowly turns into a story that feels deeply relatable. It’s about being the “easy to love” girl who wants stability, plans, and a future — and accidentally falling for someone who’s scared of commitment. The romance is warm, funny, and full of small moments that make your heart melt — practice dates, flirting lessons, quiet conversations, and gestures that feel straight out of romance books. The emotional connection grows naturally, and the characters feel real, flawed, and human. What I loved most is how comforting this book feels. It’s cute without being shallow, emotional without being heavy, and romantic without being unrealistic. If you enjoy soft rom-coms with emotional depth, small-town charm, and characters you can see yourself in, this one is worth picking up.

One thing about Sarah Adams is that she will make you laugh in her books always🤭💖 and cry too sometimes 😭, because tell me why I was crying reading this one 😭? It was a rom - com right? 🥹 Annie and Will are so cute together and I enjoyed their story 💖 And it was so good to meet noah and amelia again🥹, my cutuuu children 😭🫶 And amelia and will in that stadium oh god I was laughing so hard 😹 And Annie calling Will with different names every time was so funny😹 Overall I enjoyed this book and being back in Rome, Kentucky again🫶 It's a cute romcom novel 💖

This books was a great small town love story. A perfect rom-com and a very cozy read.

It’s the second book in the When in Rome series, set in a charming small town🏘️ in Kentucky, Rome. The story follows Annie Walker👱🏻‍♀️, a sweet and introverted flower shop owner, and Will Griffin👨🏻, a protective and caring bodyguard. It all begins with Annie’s failed date, which pushes her to step out of her comfort zone with Will helping her as her “dating coach.”💫 I loved the cozy small-town setting, the lighthearted banter between Annie and Will that often made me smile, and the hilarious fights between Harriet and Mabel that added so much fun to the story😅. Mabel, with her motherly warmth, was such a lovable character who made the town feel even more homely. The residents were absolutely delightful and gave the book a comforting, close-knit charm. Annie’s gentle nature and Will’s kindness and protectiveness made them such a lovely pair,🩷. Overall, I truly enjoyed this book!✨

To historia dla wszystkich delikatnych, romantycznych, cichych duszy, które kochają marzyć i czytać. Dla każdego kto uwielbia małe miasteczka, humor i słodki romans pomiędzy przeuroczą kwiaciarką/ miłą „dziewczyną z sąsiedztwa” a „złym chłopcem”/ ochroniarzem, który tak naprawdę jest przekochany! 🤍🌷

This was even better than the first one! I was so excited to read this book based on all the positive reviews I had seen for it and it truly did live up to the hype. It was such a sweet story to read and watching Will and Annie become friends, trust and lean on each other while falling in love was such a precious thing to witness. I was happy this wasn’t the typical ‘guy teaches girl how to date’ storyline; Will made it very clear from the beginning that he didn’t believe Annie needed to change, nor would he help her do so. He helped her find confidence in herself, which was beautiful. Watching Annie's growth is amazing; she truly finds herself in the end, and she trusts in her dreams and wants enough to follow them. I loved Will, he never pressures Annie to be anything but herself and loves exactly who she is; quirky girl and all. I loved how he truly saw Annie, how many times he smiled because he knew exactly what she was thinking and being the first person to know she wasn't this innocent, shy girl necessarily and that she wanted to be something more and had something more within her. Will seeing her was amazing and truly made you believe in their love story. Annie also sees Will and helps him with his issues, which just gives more depth to their relationship. I’m excited for the next book in the series following the oldest sister (the teacher) and to continue seeing the sprinkles of the past couples in the next books; want more of Annie and Will! I loved Noah and Amelia from When in Rome, but they don’t have anything on the beautiful relationship that is Annie and Will’s. I am also excited for the other sister's book and I’m so happy she decided to follow her dream - she’s gone for two years but after that, I’m excited for her the trope Sarah is setting up for that one!

**4.5-5 Stars** This is book two in the ‘When in Rome Series’ it was a brilliant, cosy and hilarious read. I enjoyed it so much that I found myself re-reading chapters for the fun of it. Rome in Kentucky seems to be filled with a bucket load of hilarious characters. I also recommend adding the audio I laughed so much about this town and the people who get so much into your business. This for me pipped book one as I fell in love with Annie, she is the youngest sister of Noah from book one. There are 3 sisters and she is the one who owns a flower shop and virtually blends into the background. Her Sister in law to be Amelia is a pop star and has requested her usual bodyguard Will to be with them leading up-to and including the wedding Annie has never had a good date and the one she is on is no different. She is not used to saying much and cannot find the words to connect with him. Yet, she finds it so easy to relate to Will but believes he is out of her league. Will hates commitment due to the upbringing he had with his parents and their serial cheating and constant arguments making his and his brother’s life hell. There are so many laugh out loud moments and Amelia her sister in law to be spots a spark between the two. So she comes up with a plan to get Will to be Annie’s practice date, the idea is that Will has to show Annie where she is going wrong and give her tips ……… Both think of it as a bad idea and then all the fun begins. What a hoot and I absolutely loved how Annie came out of her shell and how Will wrestles with himself that he will never fall in love trying to convince himself that he will finish this job and leave the town by keeping Annie at arms length. I just sat back and enjoyed the journey with the outrageous busy bodies thrown in lol
