Great Continuation
The art is still phenomenal. I love the style. So much is packed into every panel. The use of the panels is also refreshing and nice to see. The layout is stunning and the mangaka really took that into consideration. The story picks up where we left off in volume one. Volume one was about the chase, where volume two is about how to be in a relationship. It shows the after part of getting together. The considerations, the worries, and how loving someone doesn’t automatically fix things about yourself. You’re still you.Nozue still has things he needs to work out for himself, and he still has self-confidence issues that he’s got to work through. He had isolated himself so much that learning to rely and trust others still takes work. I appreciate the fact the mangaka understands that getting into the relationship is just the start and doesn’t resolve these issues automatically.

a more realistic, adult love story
Not your usual teen yaoi/shounen-ai, this one is a more realistic, adult love story. In book 1 it was about an older man being drawn out of his usual 9 to 5 and trying new, fun things. In book 2, they are living happily as a couple until fears and doubts begin to take root. It’s how they deal with everyday life, and living those lives together.

This Manga Felt Like A Warm Hug For Me
If you're looking for smut, find a different manga, BUT BUY THIS ONE TOO, ANYWAYS. I don't know how to explain it...the Old-Fashioned Cupcake series just makes me feel so...warm and content and happy. It's SO refreshing to see the characters in these yaoi mangas be in an older age range. I'm a little younger than Togawa's character but have even less experience than Nozue, so it just felt so nice and very relatable to read about someone who wants love and excitement in his life, but feels as though he's too old for change and that being alone is just easier for him. Nozue has very little experience with love and has long since accepted that he will simply continue on with his mundane schedule which consists of working, eating, and sleeping. I know this is the sequel manga, but the first few pages of the first manga where Nozue was talking about how he feels stuck in life really got to me...because I've felt the exact same way for so long. I think that's why I really connected with this story and Togawa's character is assertive and blunt but it's in a very gentle way that compliments Nozue's personality. Nozue certainly needs someone to get him out of his shell and to try new things, but Togawa never pressures Nozue or makes him feel bad for his lack of experience or how little he goes out to have fun.Nozue is very protective of his relationship with Togawa because he loves he man, but since it's his first time experiencing such emotions for someone he genuinely wants to pursue, his anxiety spills out and it causes him to make decisions without communicating his thoughts with Togawa. This leads to some misunderstandings, avoidance, some drunken interactions (heh), but overall I just felt the mangaka did a great job conveying authentic emotions through Nozue, because I swear the way Nozue gave us readers whip lash with wanting distance but also wanting to be near his mans is something I, a novice at relationships, would probably do, too! Nozue is still trying to figure out his emotions and to accept what it means to love another man in a society that still doesn't accept homosexuality, and all the while Togawa was so patient with Nozue while still asking him all the right questions and helpiing Nozue to face what he wants in life.I also really loved how there were so many panels that just showed the scenery. No dialogue. No people. Just scenery. In my mind, I could see time passing by, hear the sounds...I really like how it made me feel like pausing to absorb what was happening in the scene. Also because Nozue has so much running through his mind that it was nice to have that break to just pause.I don't know, I really liked both of these mangas and I'm so happy I bought them. I wish I had a bigger place and move shelf space so I could buy the physical copies of these because that's how much I liked them! All I have are the ebooks, so that'll have to be good enough for me. I really do hope there will be more to this series, but if not, I can't wait to read the next translations from Sagan Sagan Sensei :)ALSO TOGAWA IS SO CUTE WHEN HE EATS AND I LOVE WHEN NOZUE GETS FLUSTERED HEH.
