Great rear guard, especially with the expender, but…
Don’t get me wrong, this is a great mudguard and well presented in its own bag with strong mounts, short end cap and long extender, plus rubber mount feet and velcro ties, so really it should be perfect.Unfortunately though, after just the first ride from fitting it the guard kept slipping down the swingarm towards the tyre and rubbing. After just a little fettling and a couple of cable ties later the lower suspension guard was securely fixed against the swingarm and the mudguard performed extremely well on its second outing on a rougher trail.Overall I’m very pleased with it, but only after the modification.Perhaps if the manufacturer considered a little additional design to add a further mount in the way I described then this could possibly be the best rear MTB mudguard money can buy!Buy with confidence, but allow a little imagination to ensure proper mounting because ‘as-it-comes’ just isn’t good enough, but doesn’t need much thought to make it better.

Mudguards
I like this because it does not make the bike look old fashioned.Easy to fit to the bike and great quality compared to what’s on the market. Bit expensive but well made really pleased

Good mudguard
This mudguard is decent. In the short set up it won't keep you bum and back clean, but it keeps most of the crap off my rear shock, which is the important thing. It fits nicely and doesn't make any noise and not rattling.Little bit fiddly to fit, but worth doing properly so it doesn't move around or make noise. Not the cheapest, but performs well.I've not tried it in long mode yet.

Long Guard, Short Guard, you choose
Easy and quick to fit with velcro straps that don't come loose. The plasics are firm with little flex, this is good. The option to have short (dry weather) or large (wet weather) mudguard. The mudguard extension can get stuck in place after use, so I would recommend adding a little silicone grease to the edges to ease removal.

Perfect....ish
Finally someone has created the perfect mudguard, leave it on of the unpredictable UK summers and clip on the extension for the winter. No need to buy another guard again. Simple to fit very solid and sturdy but with enough flex to take the hits when you have a spill. However, keep an eye on the stupid lock cover disc things, they fall off pretty easily and you have to buy new ones, so mine is now held together with zip ties which kinda defeats the object.

Good in theory - poor in practice.
I really like Mucky Nutz products so thought that this rear mud guard would solve the problem of getting a wet and muddy back during winter rides. Got the product and all was fine and easy to fit. You have to put in some plugs in so the adjusting system stays in the right place.Unfortunately the plugs are not very secure. A few times a plug would come out while riding - the first few times a managed to find the plugs but eventually lost one. I tried asking both Mucky Nutz and the seller for a replacement plug but both said no. Funny enough you can buy replacement plugs!! So this is the appears to be a known problem.I have now requested a refund from seller but so far no response. As this is a product for mountain biking, you would expect it to tolerate dealing with hard conditions. The seller told me that I may have “skagged” it on something!!! Well may be but try mountain biking without your bike brushing up against something! Not worth £35.

Seems very good
The guard offers more “back of wheel” coverage compared to some other brands helping to cut down on leg splatter. Quality is good.

Works and looks kind of good
Lets face it, mudguards look rubbish on your nice new emtb, but this one looks ok, when it's short, Now it's winter I've added the long extension, but I've trimmed it down, still looks good and I only get half as much mud up my back. There's a lot of cow dung where I ride

Works great!
Fit great on a Trek Slash. First ride using the long protector fender was night and day better than running no fender - so much cleaner and drier. I'm excited to run the short fender year round - hoping this will prolong the life of the rear triangle pivot points. The fender feels durable but will need to see how it holds up long term. I like the rubber pads - they held the item in place nicly throughout my descent. Install was easy, though I was warned they can scratch the frame so I put some vinyl tape down first.

Rare design and product excellence
I live in pnw region. Unfortunately we gather significant experience with rain, muck, and mud. I've used most all fender products over the past 38 yrs, and Muckynutz has simply raised the bar. Ease of installation, coverage of shock and motor, versatility, and clean design and execution. A solid and well executed product and is highly adaptable to msny frame designs. I give this guard/fender my highest recommendation. Wbile its galing to be installing a guard/fender after a month riding in Virgin, UT sans such. This product makes winter in pnw viable and functional 🎯
