Full Asbestos Testing Kits (5 Samples)

I ordered the 5 sample testing kit as we have a number of older and newer asbestos ceilings in our house which required testing.The kit arrived quickly (with Amazon Prime) but as several others have mentioned, it does not come in the pictured box, just a plastic type envelope. Not a big deal but perhaps the product image here should be updated.The kit was all there except for the second red waste bag. Again not a big deal as I used an alternative but could cause a delay if you were unprepared. The instructions themselves and the PPE etc provided were fine but I have removed one star as there were only 2 cleaning wipes included. As you are meant to clean the tool you use for sampling (not included in the kit) between each sample (to prevent cross contamination) and then clean the PPE etc before disposing of it, these were not really enough. Probably 1 for every 2 samples and an additional one for cleaning would be ideal.Please also be aware that postage to return the samples is not included. The return envelope simply has a "affix postage here" label and so you will need to factor this in to your price (£4.55 in my case for recorded delivery).The results came back the same day the sample was received by the lab and are clear and concise. The ceilings I expected to contain asbestos did and the ones I expected to be clear were indeed clear.All in all I am satisfied and with a few minor tweaks to the kit, I would have given this 5 stars.

The kit came with everything I needed - instructions, PPE, envelopes for samples and an envelope for delivery to the lab. The instructions were clear and easy to follow and once I had sent off the samples, I had my report within a couple of days. Would use again without hesitation.

The results are not fast, very far from coming back in one day. The content of the results is just binary: yes or no. It doesn’t give you any details on how much asbestos is in the sample - although I’d believe it does matter if it was 0.0023% or 7.8%. A professional would do the same diagnosis at first sight.

Happy with the testing itself, and the results were easy to understand. Unfortunately the face mask arrived broken, and the bubble wrap bag was split as well, plus it took 3 working days to get the results so a big downside, as it delayed the work on the property for 3 days (we lost money).

I would advise anyone thinking of ordering this product to read all of this. The product itself was fine and easy to use. It was the company that tested my sample. An employee at North Star Environmental cross contaminated my sample. I was told that the sample I gave contained Asbestos. It had come from a product I had been exposed to for many years in a decaying state and removed recently. They led me to believe I had come into contact with asbestos. I had to register this with my doctor as is advised. Due to me having Asthma and being exposed over numerous years and a posative result, I had to have a chest xray!!!. It turned out after I called in a company to sample it again for a removal price that it came back negative. I had another person take a sample again which also came back negative. I contacted North Star Environmental to find out why they said it contained asbestos when 2 other companies say otherwise. They sent me a letter that said they tested my sample again and it came back negative. They explained what happened, how an employee had cross contaminated the sample and said they would be in touch. I never heard from them again!!! They then ignored my emails as they were obviously too bothered for their own reputation never mind what they put me through mentaly and physically. They never even offered a refund.! They obviously can not be trusted to test correctly and have zero respect for their customers wellbeing. Although Amazon gave me a refund after complaining to them, they too have just decided to ignore my complaint it would seem. Testing for asbestos is very dangerous and should not be taken lightly. Do not fall for these cheap options for the sake of saving a few pound. Especially when you end up with a company like North Star Environmental testing the sample. It really doesn't cost much more to have someone come in a take care of everything. If you have used this product, can you trust their result now?? Be careful!!!!!!!!This is a warning from my experience and a very small explanation of what I have been through. If you buy this product then you do so at your own risk.
