"Time Passes - Design Lasts"... Sad irony
I bought the watch in Jul 2016, apparently directly from Amazon EU although I was convinced that it was from Rosendahl Timepieces like the information on this page, to which my order is linked, shows it at the moment. Sadly recently the watch stopped working. Initially I thought that it just needed a battery to be changed but I was informed by a local watch repair service that the battery was fine and that the problem related to its mechanism that could be repaired. As this watch is apparently covered by a 2-year manufacturer warranty, I reported the problem to Amazon asking for a warranty claim procedure and what steps I should take next. Instead of discussing the possible solutions with me, Amazon decided to give me a refund and organised a next-day collection without even informing me about this fact. In other circumstances, this way of solving a problem, i.e. a refund, would probably be satisfactory for a customer, however for me, the way how Amazon dealt with it, its policy, and communication with its Customer Service representatives who acted like ‘robots’ was rather an annoying and upseting experience. Here are the main reasons why :According to Amazon a warranty means to bin a product straightway. Why to bother about a repair? Let’s create even more rubbish and pollute the world! Who cares?! Well, I do but Amazon didn’t want to discuss this problem. Why? Because there is no policy for repairs, like I was informed by their Customer Service representative.Amazon took a decision about a refund and processed it without even checking what my preferable way of solving the problem was. They didn’t offer me a refund, they ‘forced’ me to accept it by just announcing it in an email and organising the collection that, to my surprise, happened the next day from the ‘announcement’ (it was missed).I try to make conscious decisions as a buyer. As a consequence, I am somehow attached to things I own. I value quality and good design and I want things to serve me well for a long time. It annoys and upsets me when I have to bin them just like in this case.
