Great Quality
Great sound quality, very easy to use. I needed a mobile speaker, which had great sound. This is it! Looking forward to new products from Sunburst.

A well-built, flexible portable speaker solution that sounds good (though not great)
My wife recently asked me to find her a portable Bluetooth speaker that she could use on her desk with her laptop but also easily tote around the house into different rooms. She also wanted a speaker that she could throw in the back seat of our rarely-used, old, loud Jeep Cherokee when we take it on road trips and want to listen to music or audio books in the car (I refuse to upgrade the factory Jeep radio). We have been using a Roland CM-30 Cube Monitor as an auxiliary speaker for our laptops for the past couple of years. It sounds great and is *plenty* loud, but the Roland lacks Bluetooth and battery power (or a 12V input). Not so portable. Enter the Sunburst Gear M1BR3. It's about the same size and weight as the Roland CM-30, but it adds Bluetooth, battery operation, and a handy 12V cigarette lighter plug for the car.The design is utilitarian yet somehow retro-classy. The knobs are anodized and give a sense of quality construction. It is definitely sturdy. It wouldn't surprise me if Sunburst Gear is losing money on this product -- it can't be cheap to build.Does it do what it is supposed to do? Yes. Bluetooth is painless, and the wired inputs work fine as well. No complaints there. Unplug it from the charger and it just keeps playing, as I would expect. It's like having a really solid '80s boombox again, sort of. It's really a unique product. But how does it sound? Frankly, it doesn't sound as good or get as loud as either the Roland CM-30 Cube Monitor or the Roland/Edirol MA-15D Micro Monitors that I use with my desktop PC. The highs are a little sharp, and attenuation in the bass region is noticeable. It sounds good playing chamber music and spoken word but is less impressive pumping out dubstep/house/electro. When I crank the volume on a heavy drum and bass piece, distortion at the low end is noticeable at lower levels than I would have expected. Mids and highs sound great even at higher volumes.I wish I had a Bose SoundLink® Bluetooth® speaker III to compare this to, because that was the other product I considered. But the 12V adapter, the roadie-level build quality, and the mixer pushed me toward this product over the Bose. For the money, it seems a better value. All in all, I'm satisfied. The lackluster bass output is my only gripe, but it's still respectable for a speaker this size. Just keep your expectations at a reasonable level and upgrade to Sunburst Gear's M3 line if you need more bass output.
