The Hama Telescreen 'Videotransfer' is a versatile device designed for filming older film formats like S8 and N8 without image distortion. It features a reflective mirror for true-to-side images and allows for easy viewing of slides without darkening the room. Great Solution for Low Budget Video Transfer
Given the quality possible to achieve by using the method of converting film by filming it with a digital camera, this screen is REALLY good! An other option would be to use a white screen and film it. I used both methods. This box makes it somehow easier. But both methods work fine. (It will never get as good as having it done professionally, but it is much cheaper!

Makes digitising home movies very easy.
Works well, and in daylight. With the projector about 1m from the screen and camera on a tripod about 1.5m in front avoids a central hotspot and makes copying old home movies very easy. Set up takes a little experimentation to get the relative positions optimal, but really, it is all very easy. To be honest, this item is rather overpriced for what it is - a mirror and a translucent plastic screen held in a hinged plastic frame. The mirror on mine needed a good clean with methylated spirit as gum from the label on the plastic film protecting the mirror had leached through the film and left mottling on the glass. Must have been sitting in a warehouse for many years. Overall though, very happy with this screen which has made digitising my home movies very easy.

Does the job
I'm using it to transfer the image from a 8mm projector to a digital camera. Focusing is a bit tricky. Another consideration, the screen must be kept absolutely free from dust, so a good idea is to keep a duster handy.

Hama Telescreen
An excellent item , well worth the cost. Provided you have a good Cine projector and a digital Camcorder which allows you adjust the white balance (to stop pulsing) and shutter speed (to minimise flicker)you will end up with excellent quality cine to video transfer. A doddle to use.

easy and with a careful set up position
I found this video transfer case simple, easy and with a careful set up position, just the job. There is no wear and tear on the case and with careful use will last for years. IT'S EASY.

Total waste of money!
Really do not waste your money on this product! We ended up filming the wall for a clearer outcome than via this 'video transfer' unit! It is a flimsy plastic unit. Very disappointed

Rubbish, no better than shooting it off the wall.
The problem remains, flicker, hotspots, no matter how good your variable speed projector, and we have a Eumig, it still flickers horribly. We decided in the end to go with a professional company, Timeless Moments Ltd did a great job and no flicker.
