Does the vox remote work with the original tivo bolt?

Not always. Or more correctly, rarely. There is a known issue where the new remote won’t pair with the older Bolt in RF mode which makes the voice functionality inoperable. And the remote will also not work without line out of site as a result. TiVo is aware of this issue and the forums are filled with unhappy customers but they’ve done nothing to address it other make customers wait through hour-long phone support queues to be told there is nothing that can be done but they are looking into it.

Can this be used on roamio ota, or just bolt?

will this unit work on any Bolt without upgrading if you do not care to use the Voice control?

I answered this previously, but I'd like to change my answer.  I think the only difference between a Bolt and a Vox is that the Vox is a Bolt that comes with the voice remote.  Therefore I'd say that the Vox remote would also enable the voice control on your Bolt.  Yes, this remote would definitely work with your bolt irregardless.  I've had zero issues with it.    The main thing to do is to pair it with your bolt by going into the menu settings on your Bolt  and remote pairing.  I recommend this remote.  Also, as I said previously, there is a bluetooth usb that you can get that plugs into the back of a TiVo to enable blue tooth.  But that is for enabling voice on a Roamio Tivo.  I believe that the Bolt already has bluetooth.
