WHY DIDN'T I BUY ONE OF THESE YEARS AGO?
Very nicely made modern electronic timer.Looks good. Clear display. Robust and attractive white plastic housing. Neon indicator lights. It makes my trusty old mechanical fiddly pushpin immersion heater clock look like something from the ark. What is really excellent about this is that you can programme it for each day of the week if you want. So you can program it exactly as you like. For example to come on for 2 hours on Monday afternoon, off on Tuesday and on for four hours on Wednesday night etc etc. This saves money. You cannot do this with old mechanical timers.Lots of features like display back-up battery so you can fully turn it off for extended periods. Boost functions and override functions. When the unit switches itself on or off, it's nice that there is no big blue spark flying around as you frequently experience with old-fashioned mechanical/clockwork timers!!The downsides - but certainly not enough to alter my opinion that this is a great piece of kit- are that 1) the common earth terminal would make wiring a tad easier if it were in the centre of the connector block and 2) You will need to spend several minutes to understand how the programming works in the first instance. But once you've got it, it's simple and intuitive.Welcome to the modern age of digital immersion timers.Highly recommended by me. A bargain.ps.It's a nice piece of kit and probably deserves wiring with best quality HEAT RESISTANT immersion heater flex.

Programming is ok but still getting to grips with overrides
Arrived on time. Would have liked separate earth connections rather than trying to get 2 wires into one fixing. Yet to work out if you can override programmes in one easy step without flicking through all programmes.

Works great but could do with a button to turn the LCD backlight on
I bought this to replace the horrible NTTWIFI that would default to 'Off' mode rather than Schedule whenever it loses Wi-Fi or Internet access. This NTT08 has the same mounting points and terminal connections as the NTTWIFI, thus swapping them was a very straightforward.Prior to installing, I hooked this unit up to a normal power socket to charge its built in battery and program it. I simply followed the same program schedule that I had on the NTTWIFI.It now works flawlessly. The only design flaw as mentioned in my headline is that the LCD screen can't be read in the dark unless the backlight is turned on. Unfortunately it turns on when buttons are pressed, thus there's no way to turn it on without making changes to the operation of the unit.

Great bit of kit
Great bit of kit for a decent price. It's made my life a lot easier since my previous setup involved flicking a switch on / off everything I wanted some hot water. It took about a hour to get it setup and connected, but after that it was easy to programme and use.As the other reviews noted, the Earth connection is on the far right of the unit so the wire needs to be longer than the live and neutral. As all the connection are enclosed in the unit, it can easily be mounted on a wall, with no need for a backing plate.Works like a charm!

Easy to fit and use
Replacement for a mechanical time switch that had worn out. Easy to fit, set up and use, with clear instructions. The settings allow for up to three heating sessions a day, and these can be varied for different days, and I have it set to a single heating session every morning. The back up battery has been particularly useful this winter as we have had several short power cuts during stormy weather but the unit has kept going and remembered all the settings. Very pleased.

Silent heater
Being a careful electrics using layman I tend to copy rather than work things out.I replaced an electromechanical Timeguard immersion timer with this electronic version - so basically I moved what was on the left hand side on the old timer to the LHS on the new timer etc. Turns out that either the electronic timer is either different, or the old timer was wired wrong, or that it didn't matter what was going to mains, or immersion - nothing blew up, so just rewired all works well. So, N.B. the immersion wiring is on the right hand side - L1 is live immersion.Good thing was that the wall fittings were identical, so no new drilling required.Pros:Big easy to read digits.Program flexibility - week; weekdays; weekends; daily - up to 4 on/off per program.Silent.Knows British Summer Time - no more biannual hour shuffling. One button boost.Cons:As other reviewers have stated - the earth is stupidly positioned, on the far right - very fiddly to get the mains earth over there - have the earth in the middle and even then have two physically connected terminators, rather than stuff two wires. It really should be easier to read the terminator markings.

A really useful timerswitch - just beware wiring layout
Do take a look at the other reviews in terms of the wiring arrangements, and do follow the instructions carefully, and you will be fine.In terms of what the switch does once installed it is a really good switch with good current handling capacity (for my immersion heater's needs anyhow). The heat for one hour or two hour boost function is a godsend when you need the water heating out the normal cycle or if you are needing hot water for a second bath to be run.Not a lot to add other than easy to use and so much better than the switch I had before .Good product and a fair price too.

Does the job but could use improvement
Does the job, but it has awkward wiring for the ground, and it being limited to 4 periods seems like an artificial limitation...
