I gave it as a gift to my girlfriend (whose favorite color is yellow); and it’s very cute and sweet, but some of the poetry is a little mediocre. Some of them are pretty good, but some just feel like things people have said 100 times. Overall I’m happy with it and it makes a cute gift and sentiment, but if you’re actually interested in the poetry for yourself, it’s a little meh.

I'm inclined to address those claiming this book isn't poetry. Who are you to declare the words of another to be poetic or not? The author expressed sentiments and feelings of love through his words- and to me, that's poetry. My only concern with the contents of this poetry collection is that it seems a little overstated, and I would've liked to have seen more internal reflections on love rather than just existential thoughts. I think part of what makes love beautiful is that it exists despite the presence of a significant other- we can always find love regardless of where we look. Love is not dependent upon one person, but happiness can be.

i was looking for poetry books that were love themed and had good reviews. i was planning to order a few, and give one to my best friend/girl i’m in love with as one of her christmas gifts. Her favorite color happens to be yellow, so naturally i clicked on this book when i saw the title. i saw it had pretty damn good reviews, so i figured it would be perfect. i actually ordered two, so that i could read it while she was reading it and we could compare our favorites when we were both finished. when the book arrived at my house, i decided to flip through the first few pages. right away i noticed how short the poems were. now instead of flipping through the first few pages in order to get a feel for the writers style, i needed to flip through about 20 pages. the second thing i noticed is how simple the poems were, and not in a good way. as i kept reading them, i quickly decided that i am a better poet than this guy, and that most of his work is short, corny, and does not make you feel anything, as you would hope/expect a romantic poem to do. i still gave it to her, but i explained pretty much exactly what i wrote in this review to her right after she unwrapped it haha. i didn’t want her thinking i thought these poems were deep and meaningful, because they just simply aren’t... anyways, we laughed about it and decided we’d still both read them and mark the ones we thought stood out from all the 5th grade level poems and then compare our “favorites,” or should i say, the ones we didn’t think sucked. would not recommend, even as a gift for a girl you love who’s favorite color is yellow.

Beautiful poems. I was in the zone the whole time reading. Easy read but you won't be disappointed. He is an amazing writer

This is a perfect example of "Instagram poetry." I mean it's not BAD (to someone who doesn't really read poetry), but if you are young and looking for inspiration-- we dont really need more books like this lmao. It's a little like a very long anniversary card that you'd buy at Walmart... on the clearance rack. It had it's "moments" for sure (like five pages that weren't only two words)--but none that I ever looked back on or quoted. If you just read like, "The sun and her flowers" or a couple of Neruda's love sonnets (highly recommended btw) and you're looking for something that can give you the same feels...... lol nope. But it's cute. I mean I DID read the entire thing in like an hour.Buy it for your boyfriend that doesn't really understand women and would prefer a book from a man's perspective so he can "get" poetry, but also never read another poetry book again.

I read this wanting to see if I should give this to a friend bc her favorite color is yellow. Honestly this was just so beautiful and raw from beginning to end. It even reminded me of two characters from my favorite book series (After by Anna Todd). The fact that it’s his debut is so cool and I just hope he continues writing.

It is a good reading , but I had higher expectations about these poems. I wish there was another level of depth in these poems

Realmente no esperaba los poemas que incluye, había visto recomendaciones antes, mas no superó las expectativas que tenía de este libro. Sin embargo, es muy fácil de leer y, a pesar de que no llegó a ser mi poemario favorito, a algunos les puede llegar a gustar mucho más que a mí.
