One bad flaw.
I have bought several of these pumps. Two for myself and a few for friends. One of mine broke down recently and rather than send it back and be without it I decided to see what had gone wrong. They are generally nicely made and better put together that some other pumps I have worked on but mine at least had rather a bad flaw. The impeller is driven by a round shaft with a flat on it which engages with a corresponding flat in the impeller. The brass centre in my impeller had been rounded and thus the pump was no longer pumping even though the motor was turning as normal. Thinking that perhaps the impeller wear was due to something we had done I ordered a couple of spares. I have just fitted a new impeller and it was a very bad fit indeed on the shaft. I needed to shim it out by .5mm to make it a snug fit and ensure that the centre won't end up rounded again. Rvers will know that having the s*** pump quit while you have a pipe full of liquid crap is no fun. I suspect that this may be a manufacturing fault and that others may suffer the same fate.I have contacted the UK agents to see whether they will comment and perhaps strip one of the pumps they have in stock and check whether it is better made. The fault may be a one off. I will report back if I get a helpful reply from the seller.Edit: Just to add that I have since checked my second new one (a spare just in case) and it had the same fault, also easily rectified. I did contact the seller who offered me a couple of spare impellers but I had already bought some anyway. They didn't comment on whether they would check their stock for the fault which I had suggested they do.Still a very good pump, once the fault is fixed.
