SLIMLINE HEADRAIL FOR VERTICAL BLIND UP TO 2500MM WIDE WHITE OR BROWN by VERTICAL BLIND SPARES

Before I start I will say I am not a DIY expert, but I'm not the worse also. I have no previous experience with fitting vertical slat blinds. But have loads of experience fitting curtain rails and roller blinds. We wanted one of these vertical blinds to fit inside the recess of our French patio doors. So measured up and ordered. Bit of a delay with delivery. When It came it came with no instructions, but it was only a rail with 3 simple looking brackets, screws and wall plugs. Looked simple enough, so thought I'd give it a go. Because there were no instructions I didn't know which way up the brackets went. They fit the rail both ways up. So that was the first problem working out which way up they screwed in. Eventually fixed it to the wooden frame of doors inside the recess. We then measured what length size slat we needed, and ordered. They came one week later again with no instructions, but they were from a different company. Hung the slats to the rail hooks no problem. This is where things got messy. Once up and in place tried twisting the wand to open and close them. Slats wouldn't move. I was clueless why they wouldn't work for a while. Eventually I worked out why they wouldn't work. The slats were too close to the window and were catching, this was stopping them from opening and closing. By the time I'd worked out what was happening I'd permanently damaged the two end slat eye hooks. Which now are at different angles to the rest of the hooks. So now open and shut at different to the rest. It would have been helpful if there were instructions stating that the rail needs to be xyz distance from the window. Eventually I had to fix it outside and above the recess via drilling the wall. Once up, slats were obviously now shorter than would have been ideal. The bottom lip of the brackets I think are designed to fit half way over the bottom lip of the rail. And the hooks are meant to slide from left to right to open and shut. But the hooks catch on the rail brackets. Stopping them moving effortlessly. To such an extent I had to remove the middle bracket, and just use the two end brackets. I'm not sure if you only need to use two brackets and the third was a spare, because there's no instructions. They still catch on the two end brackets now. But I don't think we will slide them open most of the time. Most of the time we will just operate them by leaving them drawn and simply twisting the wand. So now we are left with shorter slats than ideal. But they will be replaced eventually. Then we can order the appropriate slats at the right length. More of a problem we're left with is the two end slats open and close at different angles from the rest, so looks a bit odd. I understand this was my fault, by using force to twist the wand when it wouldn't twist due to the slats catching on the window. Basically I permanently damaged the mechanism inside the two hooks. And also they do not slide and stack effortlessly as they are supposed to do. I should really ask for my money back, but can't be bothered.

I was scared of ordering the headrail ... Worried about quality, size and fittings etc... But could bow be happier after receiving fitting it. Very pleased with this product. I sent measurement based on the handrail I needed to replace. The slats are still in good state so only needed the rail. Fits great and half the price of a complete blind. It came very quickly and easy to swap out. Would recommend this service.
