De-matts well, de-sheds like other brushes
I have 6 cats and this brush, a furminator, and a standard wire slicker brush. For brushing out mattes, this works really well on at least short hair cats. My medium hair has not had any mattes since I got it, but it definitely gets rid of small tangles when I use it on her. I was able to brush several mattes out of my grey tabby boy in a short amount of time. You just have to be gentle and patient. For general de-shedding, if other brushes don't get a lot of fur off your cat because they don't have a super thick undercoat, this won't either. I have 3 cats who are on the sleeker side with short thin coats. The generally don't shed a lot anyway and none of the 3 brushes I have get any significant amount of fur on them.My medium hair cat is fluffy and while she sheds quite a bit, I have yet to find a brush that will actually work to de-shed her. But it definitely helps with general tangles more than my other 2 brushes. My 4th shorthair cat doesn't have a super thick undercoat but she is a bit on the chunky side with very soft fur. This brush works as well as my other two for deshedding. However I prefer to use the furminator on her because she has a lot of visible dander and this brush didn't really do anything to get it off her.My shorthair grey tabby is a stocky hairy boy who sheds constantly, no matter how much I brush him. I prefer this brush to the furminator and the regular deslicker for him. This very easily gets a TON of fur off him. The furminator gets full of his hair very quickly since the tines are so small, but I don't have that problem with this brush, so it's easy to just keep brushing him without stopping every 10 seconds. I find it best to just use this brush with quick strokes, let the hair go everywhere, and then vacuum it up when I'm done. This really does a lot of work on his thick undercoat.Tl;dr: great for brushing out mattes, but if you're looking for a de-shedding brush, if other ones haven't worked on your cat, I don't think this will either. It entirely depends on your cat's coat.

Recommended by Another Cat Mom
I have a cat with a double coat. Daily brushing used to be painful for my cat. A friend, who is a cat mom, told me about these. My cat no longer runs away when the brush comes out each night. He stays there and patiently lets me work through his fur. The packaging recommended the wider teeth size for hair mats (a daily occurrence for double-coat felines) and the fine comb side for smooth finished coat grooming.Occasionally, I still need to use my fingers to break apart mats, but the teeth cut mats as they are being combed, so it isn't often that I need to help any more. I always start with the wide teeth and finish with the narrow teeth side to let my cat enjoy a good, enjoyable brush. Although it cuts mats the sharp part is in the curve and never touches the animal's skin or my fingers- it is very safe and effective. This has been a great product- I'll never buy another type of brush for my pets. Each pet has their own brush, so I've bought three of these, each in different colors, and they have all worked great.

Hair flies everywhere, not so great on mats close to the skin
This is a great deshedding tool, but be aware that hair will fly everywhere. I have 2 long haired cats that have matting issues. So I tried this item. When using it generally over my longest haired cat, it was great at removing loose hair. But not all of the removed hair ends up confined to the brush. A lot flies into the air or loosely hanging on the cat. So you not only have to remove the hair from the brush, but you have to remove the loosened hair from the cats coat and the hair flying in the air. The brush removes a lot of hair, so it obviously works, but it requires a lot of cleanup. Now, on mats close to the skin, it doesn’t work so great. Those mats just don’t seem to be caught and cut by the brush. I’ve had to resort to scissors or a thingy that looks like a letter opener that pokes through the mat and the blade cuts it loose. Sorry, don’t remember the name of that little cutter. So this is a great brush, works well, but not on all mats. Glad I bought it.

Best brush for long hair cat mats
My cats' vet showed me a similar type of brush to use for mats. I tried this one and it is amazing. If matting is bad I do a little at a time but it always works.

Great brush for detangling dogs coat
I have a golden doodle and it works wonders at keeping his coat detangled and avoiding matted fur.

Cat hates to love it!
The media could not be loaded. It does pull out clumps of fur that would otherwise be all over my house. He will roll around and protest but ask for more. He "explored" it after and I took a short video...ignore the sound I have no idea what I was watching. He jumps because of a sound on the TV, he startles easily-not too bright this one.It is awkward around elbows and in the dips of his body, but it gets the job done on his tail and tummy. You can see the fur nightmare in one of the pic's. I call it his glamour shot mid-crisis. I also included one that shows the rake marks in his fur, post brush.

It works!
It works amazing on my thin hair dog (he is a chow/lab/Rottweiler mix). The amount of hair I get out in a matter of minutes is amazing! I use It on my German shepherd too and it still works great but not the same as the other dog. It might be their coats are different but I would recommend if ur dog sheds a lot.

A must have for long haired cats
Purchased this for my 2 year old Ragdoll cat as recommended by a veterinarian. It’s a bit more abrasive ( has teeth) to use than a regular bristle brush but it gets to her undercoat and lots and lots of hair is lifted. I suggest using a lot of care when using this brush on your kitty as not to make them too timid not to want to be brushed ( a little bit of tugging). I would recommend this as she looks amazing and now has a lighter fur coat.

Couldn't Believe the Amount of Hair
We had just combed out our Aussie/Collie mix, when our Amazon package arrived with the MIU Pet Grooming Brush. We were shocked at the amount of hair that we brushed out of our dog! I love this new tool! Left our doggie fluffy and soft.

Copy
Tool seems good, however they send me a copy. No name on the handle nor the package. Not pleased with Amazon for allowing this type of practice to go on.
