Great Price - Better With An LED Bulb!
Had thought of ordering the full-sized (D-cell) version, but saw this, and found out it uses a standard PR6 incandescent (same as the D-cell version). Since I had a spare Dorcy 41-1643 LED replacement for the PR6, I decided to take a chance. Decent little flashlight, just as it came, though I don't expect the AA batteries would last long with the incandescent bulb. Though I wondered if LED would pair well with the reflector focal length, they work beautifully, together. Focused, bright white light. Can't speak to durability, yet, but it seems well made. Very happy.

A smaller version of the old MX-991/U...good red light source for aging eyes
A recent study (July 2020) mentioned that shining a red light (~650nm) into your eyes for 3 minutes a day can improve aging vision by rejuvenating the rods and cones in your eyes. Wow, who'da thunk?Giving it 30-seconds of intense thought, I realized that these mini GI flashlights were just the ticket. They're incandescent not LED, so they won't burn out your retinas or optic nerves (this is a good thing). Plus, they're supplied with 4 lenses (including red) used for signalling (clear/red), hunting (green), and night vision (red/blue) purposes. After getting a pair of AA batteries and lens installed, they work great. The only minor caveat is that the on/off switch is a little stiff on initial use. Just work it back and forth a few times and it will loosen up. BTW, the extra lenses _store_ in the end butt cap (NOT the battery compartment cap) and _install_ in the front lens cap (NOT the bulb compartment cap).Great solution for rejuvenating aging eyeballs. Highly recommended.

Needs LED
Just not bright enough, it does create light though!

Not as good as the full size ones
It is a neat little light, but it's isn't very well designed. Cross threaded when I replaced the bulb because there isn't enough room to fit the lens and the reflector inside the head and screw it down properly. If you take out the clear lens and just have the reflector inside then it screws together as it should, but you have to move the lens to the front bezel where you would usually put one of the coulored lenses. Still not ideal. Not waterproof and probably barely even water resistant as there aren't any o rings between the lenses. It's a shame, because if they had taken the time to make everything fit properly and make it waterproof, then this little light could have been fantastic. Maybe even something I would depend on out in the wild. But instead it's really just a kitschy little toy.

why isn't someone making this in aluminium with a LED bulb?
there is a lot of quality , too be improved upon this product. the plastic has the feeling if it's left in the sun, [just a older generation 70's 80's style plastic] , it would deteriorate quickly. maybe another manufacturer has a thicker sturdier material. it works, the switch is sound and functional. this is a good design of light [which i really like] why isn't someone making this in aluminium with a LED bulb? be sure to get the upgraded LED bulb, the light is a yellow, which is nice , about not being flashed and loosing your night vision. make me a heavier duty version and i would buy it again.

Cool flashlight.
It looks like a toy in front of her bigger sister (size D) but don't be foolish, this small flashlight doesn't ask for nothing, well... maybe a LED bulb :-) With the original bulb, you noticed that it's enough to find anything you lost in your car or in your room, but not for a walk into the woods. So, if you need more light, i recommended to upgrade with a LED (you will note the difference). The switch it's a little bit stiff, maybe because it's new, but nothing impossible to use. Another small issue, if you don't want be confused with a rattle snake, add some cushioned material inside, because there's a lot of space for your AA batteries, or you can wrap your batteries with duck tape or foamy. Yes, of course, we have thousands of better flashlights offers, with "aircraft" class materials, or "space" proved :-) But this flashlight looks really cool. It's one of it's kind, and really works. So, for the price, it's a bargain.

Really Cheap plastic
I've had this for a half hour. Put batteries in it and the all plastic threads are already trying to cross thread. Not worth the money. Plus it is very dim.

INCANDESCENT!!! Not LED. My fault.
The light source is INCANDESCENT, not LED. My fault... I didn't note the flashlight isn't LED; ios there WRITTEN!. I will keep it as curiosity. As an obsolete device, it is very well made and nice looking. I will look for a LED upgrade kit. This thing is so cute!
