Plump it up by mixing it with an equal amount of broth; let stand for an hour. Mix it into the sauce, soup, chili, etc. and continue to cook as usual. We use it all the time and it has never turned into mush!

Q: Being larger chunks than expected, these can easily be ground to a smaller, more desirable size, right?

Yes, but if you put them dry in a blender, it goes straight to powder. I’d put them in a bag and tap them with a hammer, like I do to bust-up nuts to the perfect size.

Mine had 2 years plus before expiration
