I'm pretty happy with this, clear picture that seems higher res than similar units, works well for me in low light. I can confirm the hole needed is 14mm, there was drill bit listed as "often bought with" that was the correct size. The unit and camera can be separate, in normal mode the short cable plugs inside it, it can use a standard headphone extension cable to put unit a different place, it's the only unit like this I saw that could do this.The only warning I'd give is the instructions about how to open the back to put the batteries in are stupidly not clear and it's a bit of a puzzle. There is a small slot at one side and what looks like a big pivot point at the other. It's the LARGE side at the bottom that looks like a pivot that isn't a pivot at all, it has magnets behind it and you have to pull so that large side comes out and it pivots on the little slot at the small top side. A simple curved arrow in the manual or markers on the back would have cleared this up. Once you work it out it's simple however! If it broke I would definitely buy again.(It's not the worst example of this I've seen, if you get an amazon fire remote they are even less obvious to open, with no instructions, very bad by Amazon, I don't know what Amazon were thinking with that. When the internet is fulll of "how to open a remote" articles they must know they've a stupid design !!! Little sideways rant :))EDIT October 2019: I was getting a bit worried that it was broken, it was kind of showing a hazy effect on the display and flickering and sometimes not showing a camera there at all. It was showing effects I'd expect of a broken cable so I tested that and it was fine. I replaced the batteries and it's straight back to perfect again. The batteries are showing about half full on a tester and the unit was showing 2/3 which is misleading.So if you think it might be breaking TRY NEW BATTERIES. I'll keep the high review rating as it's back to perfect again, and the batteries lasted a fair amount of time. (I've put the old batteries in a drawer for something that doesn't need much power like a TV remote ;)).

Fitting the device requires a 14mm peephole. Install peephole camera just like you would a normal peephole viewer. There is a backplate with a hole in the middle of it, using a nut to screw the back plate to the threads on the end of the peephole camera. No other fixing is required. A cable runs through the centre of the peephole and plugs into the screen. The screen attaches to the backplate by strong magnets. Pull the screen towards you and it will detach from backplate. Replace / recharge batteries when required and offer the device back to the backplate. The magnets will hold it to the door. Simple!Before I open the door I press one button to view who is on the other side, which also activates a recording with time and date to a micro SD card which slots into the top of the viewer. Screen viewing time is either 10 or 15 seconds. Recording time is 10 seconds. I use a cheap 1 GB SD Card which is adequate.

I'm very happy with this product, it's excellent in good light, very clear and sharp. My flat is on a landing in an apartment block, and once the landing light goes out it's still not too bad in the daytime because light filters through from the main stairway, but in the evening when the landing light is off you can't see anything at all but noise on the screen. This doesn't bother me as I don't think anybody is going to be standing in the dark knocking on my door in the evening anyway, and besides people have to be buzzed into the building by me in the first place.

This product fitted our door without requiring any modification to the peep hole. Its a standard size which allowed me to simply unscrew the traditional door peep hole and fit this one. Very happy with the product, it does the job even with a 1.3mp resolution. I would buy again if a higher resolution comes around.The only issue is with the price and I would have expected the product to come with the batteries or even the microSD card. But apart from that, its an awesome product.

Happy with the product very clear view easy to set up,used it on the front door was going to move the LCD Screen to another location but can’t find an extension cable to suit.
