An authentic period docudrama about the Radclyffe twins of Ordsall Hall in Salford, narrated by Christopher Eccleston and presented by Clare McGlinn. Drama, documentary and narration sections combine, with a focus on the culture and politics of this fascinating era. Features include dialogue in an approximation of Elizabethan English, over 90 high quality period images and the haunting music of John Dowland. The film is both an account of a moving personal story about two young people who were living close to the centre of royal power, as well as a highly informative educational production (suitable for ages 14+). The locations are all historic/iconic buildings and the documentary interviewees range from academic specialists to contemporary musician, Peter Hook. The accompanying CD contains 54 minutes of music by the acclaimed late 16th/early 17th century composer, John Dowland (much of which features in the film). It was recorded for 1599 Productions Association by La Brigata (four singers and a lutenist). CD Track List: (1) Sweet, stay awhile (2) Can She Excuse My Wrongs? (3) When Phoebus first did Daphne love (4) The King of Denmark's galliard - Lute Solo (5) Flow my tears (6) Say, love, if ever thou didst find (7) Shall I sue? Illuminating and entertaining
I really enjoyed this film, which was both illuminating and entertaining. Filled with substance and well put together. It held my interest from start to finish. Excellent unobtrusive presentation and narration and wonderful acting by Anarosa de Eizaguirre.
