Consistent quality
I bought two. Gave the first one away. Bought the second to compare for quality and consistency in material quality and finish. They are identical, an attribute often missed in knives that one would assume are lower quality because of the price. The hardness (Rockwell 56) isn’t a major concern. It only takes a few minutes to get it razor sharp. 1200 grit diamond works well, wet. I have my doudts about the hardness and the steel composition. All I know is, it can be a workhorse. Feels good in the hand and mine are not small. The handle is well done without gaps. Bacterial growth shouldn’t be a concern. Flat ground and good finish. What’s not to like: supposed german steel and everything mentioned above for less than $20. Crazy.

Great Knife at a Great Price
This a great knife with a good leangth on the blade. It is sharp and it is easy to keep that way. It fits comfortably in the hand and is a great tool to have in any kitchen. I highly recomend this knife to anyone who is looking for a single knife to depend on time-after-time.

Sharpness is great, the handle feels too short
The length of the knife and what was listed on the box doesn't match. I have used the knife about once a week for three months. The handle feels too short and too smooth without ergonomic qualities to ensure a good hold. (my hands are small and the handle still feels too short for me.) To me that makes it less safe to use. It has fallen out of my hand more than once. The weight feels comfortable.I thought the design would grow on me, but I am not sure if it is me. However, the look isn't any reason for reducing stars. It will appeal to plenty of people for its uniqueness. To me it has a masculine appearance.I love Japanese knifes and it is great to experience different levels of value and quality. The box makes it giftable. As long as you don't leave any food on the knife a long time, it does clean easily. Just be extra careful with cleaning and drying. It does carry a one year warranty.

Can you hear the choir singing?
The media could not be loaded. This Chef’s knife came out of the box nearly razor sharp—sharp enough to shave a bald spot on my arm. I has a full-tang that is mechanically secured with a large decorative pin. The handle is large enough that it is comfortable in my large hands, but not too large that my wife will struggle using it in her much smaller hands. If I were forced to complain, it would be about the care instructions… or lack thereof. They offer no guidance on dishwasher versus hand washing, does it ever need oiled…. The only guidance is how to hand sharpen it. BTW, you should hand wash all of your knifes and it should not ever need oiled. The thing is, if you want to attract customers that have never used this type of knife, you should not leave questions.Pro: Very well constructed knife. Sharp!Con: Care of knife instructions are non-existent.My Take: I will use this.Info: I try to provide an honest review of every item I receive. I don’t have a use for many of the products I have reviewed (you really think I needed four 6” chainsaws!). I simply want to provide a service to those considering purchasing the products I review.

Super Sharp
When I say this is super sharp I mean both for cutting and in looks. The rugged Damascus steel look is very appealing and the Japanese style handle with dark wood is beautiful. The only negative is that this is a heavy chef's knife. If you have to use this for a long period of time you will feel it. But, it's so sharp right out of the box that cutting it a breeze, so maybe that will help.
