Quality, chaotic comedy
Loved this. An admittedly rather absurd comedy but if you can run with the daftness of it all then it's a satisfying blend of witty scripting and winning performances.Lake Bell plays Nancy who, after a minor spat with a young lady on a train, ends up stealing her blind date. That would be Jack, played by Simon Pegg, he has no idea he's now hooking up with the "wrong" woman as we follow the couple throughout their awesome/catastrophic date (delete as appropriate). It's doesn't take long to put all the pieces in place then it's off on a sprint through the night - from one comedy spot to the next. Plenty of verbal gags and jibes are inserted alongside the expected pratfalls and physical comedy. Pegg is excellent, on old school motor mouthed form and Bell again proves she's one of the more underrated and underused performers around. There's solid support elsewhere including one particular character who gets some decent laughs despite feeling like he's wandered in from a different film altogether.Chances are you'll get an early sense of where it's all going but the way it gets there is a lot of fun. Recommended.

Top notch British romcom
Top notch British romatic comedy, starring Lake Bell and Simon Pegg. Basic plot as follows. Couple of mid-life loners thrown together by accident and gradually hit it off but with some speedbumps here and there. Lots of laughs along the way, nearly all of which is that great, gentle, understated British humour (see Notting Hill for type specimen). There is only a very minimal smattering of the more overtly pie-in-the-face type stuff that one might assocate with "comedies" originating in a place whose name begins with "H" and ends with "ollywood". I had hovered over this a few times but for some reason didn't bite on it. Now hooked and will watch again at some stage. The performances of the two leads, Lake Bell and Simon Pegg are extremely good. Pegg shows himself to be a quite emotional actor in this film, as opposed to a straight-up comedy actor. Lake also gives a strong showing and plays to perfection the thirty-something woman who has more or less given up on herself. Great show. Strongly recommend. Watch it.

excellent
Loved this film and watched it twice already , its one of those films that gets better as you watch it , Simon Peg brings his usual sense of humour, my husband watched it with me and was laughing all the way through, well worth the purchase.

A feel good quirky movie.
I first saw this movie on a long haul flight from Heathrow to Los Angeles, it made me laugh & was a welcome relief & a good distraction for a couple of hours. I decided to buy it & see if I found it as funny watching it at home, I was not disappointed, & neither was my husband. It is not a movie to be taken seriously, it is light entertainment, no need for any analysis to decided if it was believable. It was weird & quirky, just like the characters, Simon Pegg & Lake Bell portrayed people who had been damaged by previous relationships, one prepared to give up & the other still trying to prove to himself that he was OK. They're both nuts, & for me that provided the appeal . I too, am tired of the Hollywood portrayal of glitz & glamour, the perfect white teeth, the tanned, toned bodies, looking for the perfect mate. F bombs flying left & right, in your face crudeness & let's throw in a bit of violence & you've got the perfect mix. Seriously? No I'll happily watch this movie again & laugh.

A good solid rom-com
Clever and witty dialogue driven rom-com with a little slapstick thrown in, and in the main steers clear of being overly soppy.Simon Pegg has some very witty lines, and Lake Bell is a revelation to me because I've never seen her in anything else before. I thought she was excellent.Couple that with some decent supporting actors ( her father is the most realistic 'tipsy person' I've seen in films) and you have a pretty solid rom-com to wile away a couple of hours.
