Steampunk 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle

As an experienced puzzler, I have been drawn to this puzzle for awhile now but kept putting off buying it because of the darker color scheme. I finally had an opportunity to buy it and assemble it, and I could not have been happier. Rather than starting with the lighter center focal point, I started with the outer sections. Trust me, there are plenty of colors in this design to ease the assembly process. True, there’s a lot of brown, gears, and clocks, but by breaking it down into small sections, you can finally get sections that attach to other sections. By studying the artwork, on the box top or the included poster, you can identify areas to tackle first. The balloons in the lower right corner, the blue mechanism case in the lower left corner, or the red time traveler dial in the upper section are great starting points. I finished the puzzle with the interior section of hot air balloons and the “Voyages Extraordinaires” banner, saving the easiest part for last. I did take some photos of my work in progress but with the darker indoor lighting, the puzzle appears darker than it is. The piece cut is random/irregular, the fit is good, the puzzle dust is minimal, the challenge factor is in the medium range. As an added little bonus, there are scattered green letters that can be unscrambled to create the two words “Time Traveler”. This company is wonderful and very responsive to any issues that you may have, but I have never had a problem with any of their puzzles. I would recommend any of their puzzles for any puzzler, although this puzzle will take a beginner a bit longer at first. The reward of your finished puzzle, though, is completely worth it!

This is my first Hennessy puzzle. I'm glad I tried it.Puzzle pieces were good size, locked together well, sturdy, and seemed to be just the right thickness.Although some might say the picture looks a bit dark, it really isn't. Looking on line, I had also felt it was too dark. But after reading another review, I decided to try it. I'm glad I did. It is NOT as dark as you might think. The colors are fun and the "pictures inside of the whole picture" are interesting. I had doubts since I'm not a big "Steampunk" fan...but I guess I really am since I found it so enjoyable.A challenging puzzle but well worth it!Just wish I could find more of this brand with such great pictures.

This was a very tough puzzle. Maybe others wouldn't find it so, but it took us a week to complete when we normally finish puzzles in days. The puzzle has so many small objects, and even has identical shaped pieces that fit nicely and even look like they match where they do not belong that I was stumped about pieces for days until I realized that it was not the right piece, though it fit perfectly. The backgrounds were the most helpful in identifying where pieces went, but the fine differences in the backgrounds across much of the puzzle, made this approach a challenge as well. If you do puzzles because you like being challenged, not because you love the picture (since this picture is not the most lovable but there are some curious parts, like faucets coming out of mountains for people who like quirky pictures), you'll enjoy doing this puzzle.

This puzzle looked like it would be interesting. The puzzle was difficult and well made. The pieces are good quality and all the pieces were present and accounted for. I also like that you get a color photo of the puzzle so you don’t have to use the box lid as a guide because that’s not easy to hold all the time. My only criticism is most of the puzzle isn’t very colorful and the picture is less interesting to work than I would have expected. About 3/4 is just various shades of brown.

We usually work Ravensburger or Buffalo puzzles but I really like steampunk and I wanted to work this puzzle so we tried a new company. The puzzle came with a separate picture included and no puzzle piece showing the "piece size" covered any part of the box picture - which is very much appreciated. The quality of the puzzle is enjoyable and the colors vibrant. I would not hesitate to buy another Hennessy puzzle. I agree with one of the other reviewers here - it was both easy and challenging which made it a lot of fun for us.

I never even heard of steampunk until I bought this puzzle, and when I got it home and unloaded it, I wasn't sure I was going to work it. But I had nothing else going, so I thought I'd give it a try. I got hooked! It was both easier and harder than I thought it would be, and while it took me a while to finish, every time I sat down at it I was able to put some pieces together. The quality is great, except it did have more puzzle dust than I would have liked. Everything fit together well. Having the picture outside of the box also helped. All in all, a definite find.

I loved this puzzle, especially the unusual (to me) shapes of many of the pieces which made completing it more interesting and challenging. I also found the steampunk design really fun and interesting - sometimes you get sick of the illustration long before you complete the puzzle, but the variety in this one made it fun to the end. My only very slight quibble was that the edges of the pieces weren't completely crisply cut through. It didn't interfere with enjoying the puzzle, but this neat puzzle would have been a 5-star if the pieces had been crisp and clean.

Purchased this as gift for a special friend, someone who enjoys the entire puzzler experience. With so many selections on the market, varying range of quality, value, attention to detail... I was referred to Hennessy Puzzles by someone who considers themselves to be in the know of what the top of the line should include. Based on delivery, appearances, the delightful Steampunk creativity... I have hit a homerun and expect to be a repeat customer.
