The Vintage Book of Contemporary World Poetry

This book was required for a course I'm taking. I'm glad it was, because it turns out to be an amazing compilation of translations from international poets, some of whom I am familiar with and some who are new to me. The translators include Elizabeth Bishop, one of my favorite poets, whose translations can be trusted to be authentic. Mainly, I appreciate the opportunity to expand my literary horizons with a collection that is nicely presented and economical. If you want to gain a wider appreciation of poetry, don't hesitate to acquire this volume.

Great condition. Lots of collective poetry and classics all in one. Must-read or to have in office for a pick-me-up.

I purchased this for a class I was taking in college, and while it was required reading I most definitely enjoyed it. I'm glad to have had the chance to read works by a variety of different authors, while also having the writer biographies in the front of each section to explain their backgrounds. I'm definitely keeping this one on my bookshelf.
