Monster-Sized Hellboy

While I wish there were a way to get the Hellboy Short Stories collections put in a volume that’s oversized like this, it’s a small gripe. This book is amazing to see. Easily one of the biggest comic collections I own by page size, and the thickest I’ve got (I think just barely outsizing the Fourth World by Jack Kirby omnibus), it still manages to be incredibly well constructed for its size. It has the entirety of Hellboy’s chronological story from Seed Of Destruction to Hellboy In Hell, again, with the exception of short stories or stories set before 1993 in universe. There are no sketchbook or side material sections like in the four omnibus set, so if you were looking at this as a pure “upgrade,” you’d be missing some things. However, if you just want to read chronological Hellboy with the pages looking about as good as they possibly can, this is a wonderful format. I’d recommend storing it sideways on its back cover due to the size, because it’s definitely taller than what Marvel/DC omnibus buyers would be used to. More like the Library Editions or DC’s Absolute Editions.

I hesitated, because (as other reviewers have noted) this is a VERY BIG book. You are probably going to have a hard time fitting it on your bookcase. You could practically make it its own book shelf.But I am SO glad I got it. It's great to read the stories in chronological order of events, and now I understand the sequence better than I did. It's also great to see the graphics in a larger format. I am really happy that I got it.I don't have a lot of space so wound up putting it in a large clear plastic bag under my bed for storage. So, bonus points: I can honestly say I have monsters under my bed.

Take it to a table. Lay it flat, and sit down and read it. Cause you're not going to read it lying down in bed without crushing your sternum.You can read for hours and still have more than 1000 pages of Hellboy left to read.C'mon, how great is that? It's like having a virtually infinite amount of Hellboy. Plus you can show all your friends this outrageously enormous book and be cooler than they are. That's definitely a plus.Definitely one of the largest books of any kind I've ever seen, and the quality is top-top notch. Pages are fantastic paper, and print is colorful and perfect. And you can read and read and read it and not be bored for more than a week. The sheer insanity of it is just incredibly compelling. Buy two and use the other one as a ship anchor. Why not?

This is one monster sized book. Weighs well over 10lbs and measures approx. 12.25 in x 8.25 in x 3.5 in. This means it probably won’t fit on your book shelf, my shelf is just a quarter inch too short to accommodate this book. What’s awesome about this collection is it basically collects everything in one book in the most logical reading order. The library edition costs more, is 7 books, and takes up more space. I’m aware that the library edition collects every single story but there is an easy fix. If you want to complete the whole series you only have to buy two books: The Complete Short Stories Vol 1 & 2.

For a, literal, monster sized book it arrived in perfect condition, excellent packing and in the promised time.

This is one of the best laid out large volumes (and it is massively huuuuge), I have ever seen or had the pleasure of owning. Phenomenal. Hellboy is fantastic, but this collection takes it to a completely different level. Mind blowing and gorgeous. Don't hesitate on this one. Made a classic, even better. I'm in love! Beware though, this beast is super heavy. I would recommend a reading table
