It's OK
Instead of there being a little door on each compartment, there is a lifting action that is needed to open each bin. I like that it is very durable, but it is very unhandy for my Son, who is a stroke survivor, to access. He is unable to use his right hand, so to take his meds, after lifting the lid on the day and time he wants, he has to lift the whole pill box to his mouth. . A better design would be ; each day would lift out of the main box for easier access.

Medi-Planner Should Change Its Name
The Mediplanner is a compartmented case that stores your weekly dosage of medicine and assumes that you will take pills four times a day.Unlike other similar items the daily dosage compartments do not separate themselves from the main storage unit. I like this; some people won't. I don't like the other ones because the tops for the individual doages are much harder to open. What I don't like about it is that eventually the plastic fittings for each dosage get worn down and they no longer keep the pills in the appropriate compartment.Drop the box once and you know the problem. Pills here, pills there, pills everywhere except the box.Otherwise it is excellent for fitness of purpose. But there is no planning involved.

Two compartments open at once
It's a nuisance to have two compartments/boxes open at the same time depending on the row/compartment that is being opened. The above and below adjacent boxes are hinged and both can be accidentally opened at the same time dumping pills everywhere. It takes some getting used to. I dislike taking pills anyway and constantly having to be careful not to dump out two pill container compartments/boxes at the same time is a pain.

A real time saver....
I bought two of these and use one for Days and one for Nights, this gives me a 28 day supply of both so refilling is once a month. I would have given it 5 stars if the 2 inner rows had individual doors instead of linked to the front doors but it still works great and saves me so much time it's worth the price and more. If you take a lot of meds or a little this organizes it perfectly for you a month at a time.

Disappointed
I probably should have looked a bit closer or read the reviews closer. With my MIL's current pill box - each days worth of meds come OUT of the main container - she then keeps them in a pocket or on her walker tray. But this med planner - although large - just isn't nearly as handy. She would have to carry the whole week's worth of meds around with her :0( I may save it 'just in case' but will probably never use it. I was disappointed - AGAIN.The Apex Medi Tray is the one we have now or one very similar - but when I ordered another one on Amazon - it came in BLUE and you cannot see the pills inside - impossible to tell is the pills have been taken unless you open each window. So, another one hits the dust :0(http://www.amazon.com/Apex-Medi-Tray-Times-Days/dp/B000KI5QVU/ref=pd_sim_hpc_3If someone knows where I can find The Apex Medi Tray or similar in CLEAR like the one we have now - please comment here.Thanks.

M-P II is the Best I have found to date
For Several years, I had been using the Deluxe Medtime Planner.I fill 4 or 5 of them on a monthly basis. I find myself holding the DMP covers together with shipping tape after the first or second use.I have not had to tape together the Mediplanner II top yet after a year's use, so I have purchased more to take the place of the Medtimes.I am also testing out the Large Medi-Chest which allows you to carry just the daily case instead of the entire week with you. The daily case appears to be made of the same tough plastic as the MediPlanner II, however, the weekly containing case is made of brittle polystyrene, so I may end up with a bunch of daily cases without any weekly case to store them in!************************************************************************As of 2007, after 1 1/2 years of testing, I now prefer the large Medi-Chest. Nothing has broken on any of the 5 units and the removable daily case is great for making day trips or going out hunting, fishing or golfing.

Beware the strange layout - Bed & Evening are reversed
I read the glowing reviews for this item, and even went to great lengths to order two via the US and have a friend bring it half way across the world for my father in law. Imagine my disappointment when I saw it up close, and realised that the "bed" and "evening" slots are the wrong way around!! Even the numbering and the braille are the wrong way around.Other than that, the container really is a good size. The spaces are big enough for shaky hands and the writing is clear. But have a good look at the picture before you order it for anyone who might get mixed up with their medication - it's meant to be a simple system and this is a really dangerous layout. I am SO disappointed.
