Great music
I know this kind of music is not to everyone's taste but if this music is for you this CD is a real classic. Heavy, angry and full of bitterness in Glenn Danzig's voice, you almost feel sorry for him.

Evil Elvis
Possibly Danzig at their best. Cross Elvis with Glen Danzigs previous band The Misfits and you have the sound. Bluesy metal with a hint of rockabilly and Frank Sinatra thrown in.

'do you want to take a life,do you want to cross that line'
Glenn danzig, once glorious leader of one of the greatest bands of all time in the misfits, found it all too much and formed his own band called danzig and this lucifuge is their second album and saw light of day in 1990 and the results are brilliant, but dont go thinking that this is the misfits mark two,its pretty diverse and that deserves praise.Glenn Danzigs heros as a youngster included the doors and elvis, hence the nickname evil elvis and both of these influences are evident here in small portions.Danzig also write songs that last 4 minutes or so as opposed to the misfits short, sharp blasts so you get a fuller and more conventional song structure here and glenns vocals are more expressive here,he truly has a very broad and powerful range of vocals,oh yeah i didnt mention that the album also rocks in a more metal style at times as opposed to the punk of the misfits but there is also a mixture of blues, rock and roll and country but all with glenns dark words haunting throughout. The album starts with 'long way back from hell' and the intentions are clear that this is gonna be a classic, and this is backed up with 'snakes of christ','killer wolf' and the misfits like anthem 'tired of being alive'.'im the one' follows and this is elvis-esque but has the classic line 'so if you want to hear evil, come a little bit close'.'Her black wings' follows and is a stomping, sleazy riff fest, filled with ooohs and aahs that the misfits would have been proud of,'devils plaything' is pure doors with danzig throwing a great jim morrison style of singing, very catchy indeed. The remaining songs all offer varying styles but the common bond is that they are all solid and that can be applied to the entire album, brilliant indeed.

Just as good as the first.
Superb follow up album to the first, all new stuff, retaining the same excellent mixing and balance throughout,.... well worth it!

Danzig is an Elvis Impersonator from Hell
I really like this album. It kind of loses steam after the first four songs, but that's not to say the rest of them are bad, just that the first four are really good.My favorite is "Tired of Being Alive." I really relate to it.Before now, I was only familiar with the first Danzig album, which of course is great. And the Misfits, which is one of my favorite bands.I actually saw him play this in its entirety at a festival in Las Vegas. He was spinning yarns in between songs like a punk rock grandpa, and he can still sing like, IDK . . . something that sings really well. He's still got it. He sounds like Kermit the Frog when he talks. If you want searing distortion and crunch, buy something else. The instrumentation on this has more in common with AC/DC or Led Zeppelin, lots of clear, open chords and whatnot. It's kind of like a 90s update of the 50s rock and roll sound, which is fun.I've been driving around with it since it came, I really can't get enough Danzig these days.

Devil is my name
Volle Punktzahl.
