Great story, poor condition
Great story, worthy tribute to the pulp stories that inspired it. One star rating reflects the condition, tatty creased cover, dog eared. If I'd wanted used, I'd have ordered used

Starlite.
This is quite a bland story. Its not bad, but its not terribly exciting either. The pulp sci fi universe is handled quite well, its just that I've seen it all a dozen times before. Its as light and breezy as a dandelion seed but very much a junoir jetson kind of read.

Trouble on Tantalus
(ARC was provided to read and review.)Duke McQueen's wife has just died of cancer and his two sons ponder at the funeral if they need to look at a care home for their dad. Why they feel that, is beyond me, because Duke looks as fit as an aged Han Solo. Maybe it's because the two don't respect their father much, which has to do with his last flight as Air Force testpilot. At the time he claimed upon his return, that he had by accident travelled through a wormhole to a different galaxy and visited the planet of Tantalus, where he met aliens and freed the planet's inhabitants from a dictator. No one, apart from his wife, believed him and everybody else, including his own sons, thought he had just gone crazy. We soon find out, the old guy's account was true, as one year on, on the first anniversary of his wife's death, (where his sons can't be bothered to remember it or visit their dad), there's in the evening a knock on the door. It's from an unexpected guest, Space-Boy Krish has flown all the way from Tantalus to bring back their national hero McQueen, to save the planet once again. Tantalus has again fallen on hard times, their queen is dead and sinister Kingfisher and his men enslave the inhabitants and force them to work in their mines.First McQueen refuses to travel with Krish, as he's forty years older now, but, of course, the story must go on, and our (slightly) aged hero puts on his nylon suit once again and is on his way to infinity and beyond. When the two reach Tantalus, they are soon able to join the rebels and the fight to free the people of Tantalus is on.If you did grow up with 70s sci fi, where no one had heard of CGI and aliens still looked all a bit like Godzilla, you'll enjoy Starlight as much as I did. There were enough pages where I had a lot of fun watching "Buck McRogers" huffing and puffing his way through the action.Goran Parlov's artwork is colourful and looks beautifully retro and is just superb, the illustrations just fit in perfectly with the story. The book is a collection of parts 1 - 6 and the story has a proper ending which is quite heartfelt and yes, I liked Starlight.

Miller's BEST book.
It's Millar best book, and he's got one hell of a library of works so that's as high a complement as I can give. If you liked Kick Ass, Kingsman Secret Service, the Ultimates or anything else this guy's written you need to try Starlight.

An old man returns to a faraway planet to relive his glorious past
This nicely-produced collection tells us the story of an old man, recently widowed, who has visited and been a hero on another planet. Lonely and neglected by his family, he is drawn back to his past glories and is taken back to fight again for the liberation of a faraway planet. An old-fashioned tale with a happy ending, reminiscent of the French “bande dessinée” style. Well-illustrated and engaging, I found this well worth reading.

Excellent
This is a great little story. I've know idea how someone can rate it 1 star. It's a safe story and enjoyable and brings out the emotion of the character with clever writing. Mark Millar has used obvious influences like Flash Gordon, but I think that's great, most creativity is influenced by something already created anyway. I thought this story was really good fun and a breath of fresh air. I hope they do more.
