Who doesn't want their own cloud?
When I explain to people that I have a NAS, they don't get it at first. But when I show them that I can access every file from the NAS right there and then from my pad or my phone, they can't believe it. Music, videos, documents... All with me, all the time. And the simplicity! Soooo much better than the competition! And they will not remain nameless because Synology's product sucked, their support sucked, and it wasted 3 days of my life! Netgear saved me and all my data. And I didn't even need to contact customer support because it was so easy to understand and the interface is fab. This is like living in the future!

Kernel crashed inside of 4 months
Experienced a corrupted kernel and file system at approximately 120 days. no explanation for why this happened as I had not done anything abnormal or not included in the user interface (no backend activity at all). Netgear would not provide any support to resolve this problem since it was past the 90 day warranty and advised I had to purchase a support contract to receive support. Paid $519 US for a 24/7 support contract but then it was a couple of days before I received any active support and I was ultimately told to factory restore the box and start over again. This was not a problem for me since I had 100% backup of data on another box but if you had only one box, you would have lost everything on it. I was more than a bit upset that I paid $519 US and the best advice was to factory restore the box. Online support could have given me that option before I paid all that money rather than telling me I had to buy a support contract. I would have tried this myself but it was not clear that a factory restore would necessarily restore the kernel and I didn't want to make the situation any worse.** Follow-up: In May I had recommended a friend buy a 524 (before my problem manifested) and now in Sept, his box has crashed as well. Symptoms are very similar to my 524. In this case, support was much improved and they remotely accessed the box and fixed without requiring a support contract. According to support, his problem was a different cause than mine? which allowed the remote fix.

Great little NAS
Great little NAS. Supports the power disable pin feature that's on newer large capacity drives too.My configuration:- 3x10TB HDDs and 1x120GB SSD (plan to expand to 4x10TB).- Connected to entire network over 1 GbE interface.- Connected directly to another server over 10 GbE interface.- Docker running 7 containers.Statistics:- RAM usage is ~60%.- Swap usage is ~80% (increased swappiness value).- CPU temperature is relatively high compared to my other servers, I don't think I've seen it idle below 50C. With the fan profile set to Cool I've never seen it surpass ~60C.

Good NAS
Works very well, I used 4 10TB drives. I have it connected to a 10g managed switch, which is connected to PC via dual 10g NIC. Works at a average of 200/MB’s sec. Drive is good but CS STINKS. Non of them speak English!!!!! I gave one girl my email ans she told me it had to be YAHOO or GMAIL. I almost fell out of my chair.. I think McDonald workers are smarter than that!! I PRAY!!

Great NAS
This is my second ReadyNas product and it is better than the original versions. It was easy to set up and then instruction manuals and videos make configuring it easy.
