Car Caddie Adjustable Support Handle
i bought this to help Mom get into/out of the car. When i received it, the simplicity of the device caused me to be a bit leery, until after i installed it. It hooks via velcro strap, fed through metal loops, which "bit down" into the strap. [No tools whatsoever required: just undo the strap and re-feed it through the 'grab bar' of the car.] It works wonderfully! i pulled on it with the full force of my weight to 'lock it in place' and be sure it wouldn't give. It didn't budge! Mom has a dislocated shoulder, requiring surgery and the Car Caddie is making it possible for her to get into the car, which a minimal amount of pain. i love that it hooks to 'grab bar' inside the car [Ford Escape]. it's an easier height for her to reach - the grab bar was too high. The Caddie's covered by a soft "pouch", but there's no sway while driving, even when not used. it doesn't come near hitting the window, even on a turn. YES ~ i'd buy it again, and highly recommend it for anyone who needs assistance to get into or out of a car. Fabulous product! Thank you.

but not as useful as I expected
It's OK, but not as useful as I expected. For one thing, I have learned that putting something like this on the door and then using it to get in or out of the car is likely to cause the door to move and injure the leg(s). Another thing is that it hangs down from the hanger too low to be of real use for my husband. Perhaps for a short person it would be helpful if hung above the door frame.

Useful and helpful, but sometimes a pain
I have a love hate relationship with this handle, which we use, not on the car door itself, but on the inside of the door to lower the handle that you hang onto. The love - it makes getting into the car possible for my husband. The hate - well, we quickly removed the cover, because it only got in the way. My daughter and husband have a problem with the handle itself hitting them in the head every time we turn a corner. Not a nice thing. So, useful and helpful, but sometimes a pain.

This handle has other uses
we are not using it the way that it is shown. Our buick has a grip in the top of the car that the passenger can use as an aid getting in and out of the car. It was too high for my wife's bad shoulder. this proved to be the perfect extension to the existing ceiling grip.so if your car has a hard to reach top grip, consider this as an extension that can be used.Quality good.

Great idea, not right for my situation.
I've tried it with at 97 year old and an 83 year old. Both of them did not like it. One could not remember to use it and the other did not want to use it. I attached it to the grab bar above the door. If I attached it to the door, I was afraid that they would slam the door on their legs or fingers. Great idea and I think it would work for the right person. I have been a caregiver for 25 years.

Helpful
Blocks view somewhat unlike earlier version I ordered which doesn't have the foam padding. I may try to cut that off. I got this one for the passenger door as I still use the older model on my driver's side. It seems to help a friend I drive . She can rarely reach the overhead handle that is built-in to the passenger side, but she can see this and reach it to steady herself getting in and out.

It is sturdy, and is of some help
This item was advertised as adjustable, but the only adjustment is to slide it on the door frame with an open window. It must be caught in a closed window to make it stationary. The buckle to hold it on the; door must be carefully located so it does not keep the door from closing or from crushing the buckle. It is sturdy, and is of some help, but the bar that fits into the door latch is a much better product and much more helpful..

This support handle does help my father steady himself when getting in and out of the car. However, I wish it had an easy to detach clip rather than the complicated weaving in and out of the strap. I have to leave it on the car when my father isn't with me and it is irritating to have it obstruct my view.

Very disappointed
Far to short very flimsy buckle. I am disabled and this does not help at all.
