Very hard to cut nicely without special tools - wish I ordered precut foam instead
Chances are you ended up finding this case because you we're searching for uncut foam so you could cut it yourself.Think twice before committing to that! Of course, custom cut will look much better than the ripped out squares pre-cut foam, however getting it to that is extremely difficult due to how flimsy it is. If you were to brush over it with your nail, it will start peeling off into pieces.Main issue when cutting it is that the foam in the case is a single block, meaning you'll have trouble finding a knife long enough to pierce through it, while being narrow enough to allow you to make smaller shapes (especially curved ones). Now, of course you can cut a shape in one side, then do the measurements on the other side and try cutting it so the the cut out edge lines meet. There is problem though, you have to be accurate to a millimetre (which is not very reasonable to expect for something that curves a lot). If you're not accurate enough, then you won't be able to pull out the cut out due to it being connected by thin layers of foam. If you try ripping it out, it will look awful regardless of how small the connecting strand was.To get to the point, you'll likely have a messy cut out with a bunch of small foam pieces sticking out from the edges. Any time you'll put anything in and pull it out, you'll have small pieces of foam stuck to your item. The foam sticks to anything electrostatically - your hands, hair, clothes, items. Depending on what you'll put it in there it could either be a problem, or not a problem. In my case, I feel bit uneasy putting in my optics there. Now, it is probably possible to cut it out properly and make it so it does sand down every time you put something in there and pull out. But that would likely require you to divide the foam into two or more layers, and cut each layer separately. Though you'll require a tool long enough to do that. Trust me, the last thing you want to do is cut it on one side, turn it around, and then cut the other side - you'll end up with a mince meat of foam in the area where the knife tip manages to reach. Or you could do a cut out the messy way, but then deal with sanding it down with rotary sander & then attempt heat sealing. Too much can go wrong in attempting to smooth it out this way, though.TLDR;There's a good reason precut in squares foam is so wide spread. If you're thinking you can cut it in kitchen conditions, you're better of with pre-cut foam. Other wise you need long & narrow cutting tools, and some special sanding down tools. If you cut your foam badly (which is extremely easy to do), its edges (from inside of the cut out) will make you think whether the square option might have been a better way to go. The way small pieces of foam keep peeling away and sticking everywhere will make you want to keep anything that has to be dust protected in additional packaging such as plastic bags (stuff like telescope, microscope eye pieces, maybe camera lenses as well - of course they all come with their lids, however when you take an item out, your hands are covered with small pieces of foam, which increases the risk of getting it all over the lenses).Gave a good review just because there was nothing wrong with the item. The case is good, the foam is good. However I severely underestimated the skill required to deal with a foam this thick.

awesome for the price
i use this to store my refractor telescope and eyepieces init feels solid enough for me to carry around with over a grand in value of fragile equipment in, and has been on a few road trips already (yes everything arrived intact and still good)only thing i do is put a locking pin through the latches to prevent any involuntary opening of the latch when carrying. (rather not drop the telescope by accident)

Would definitely buy again and recommend to any one.
Perfect size for my pistols. Length was not long enough to lay the pistols side by side with all the bits needed for the range. So I cut the foam pack in half to make top and bottom layers. All fits perfectly with plenty of room for more items to be added at a later date.Cutting the foam was no problem using a very sharp carving knife and smaller gutting knife. I have used this method for years as all my tools are shadowed in my tool trolly and box.Carry handle does give a little bit but there again I have a lot of weight in the box. I might eventually put an extra piece on the inside to help support the handle.

So far so good.
Use for paints, as i'm an artist and it's been great.

Better value and sturdier than expected for the weight or price!
Happily surprised! We use this as under bed storage for things we would like locked up, and it works admirably for that. The foam block inside was nice and dense, and although not needed for our use, will serve us for other purposes I'm sure.

Great VFM, decent size, includes foam block
Great VFM, decent size, includes foam block.I was struck by the weight of it. It's very light. But is almost certainly a price of cabin luggage as I'm pretty sure it's too long for cabin luggage. It seems ideal for transporting fragile objects like light bulbsThe internal foam block is a similar texture to the foam that is used for Flower arranging. I guess it is intended to be cut to purpose however the packaging contained no instructions or recommendations for use.As the foam block sits perfectly flush with the lip of the lower section and the base of the box is unpadded. There is approximately an inch of space between the foam and the padded lid. I may have to contact the seller for advice.

Ideal
Great for my telescope would perfect if the foam was cubed.

Foam unscored, if bought get a knife ready.
Not as much space inside as I'd hoped and the foam was unscored so I had to cut it all myself. Aside from that it's doing its job (carrying warhammer tyranids) very well.
