Galaxy French Door Restrictor for UPVC Doors Sash Safety Guard

Bought this to replace the one on my French door as the original one worn and would not hold in the bracket that attaches to the door frame. This one was a perfect replacement and very easy to fit. Also came with fixing screws.

very easy to fit took about ten minutes you just need two measurements 105 mm from the edge of the door and 70mm from the corner of the door frame

The picture on the Amazon site shows a Galaxy label on it, and was an exact copy of the one I was replacing. What was delivered had no brand name on it, and was similar to the existing one! The biggest difference was that the screwholes in the new restrictor were smaller, which meant the existing screws wouldn't fit! Fortunately (unlike other reviews) the replacement did have screws in the pack, so I used those.

Helped alot with our outward opening door. Check the reviews for some help installing though. Comes with no instructions so took me 3 tries before someone's review helped me install. That said it's cheap and does the job.

Pretty easy to fit to replace the broken one but had to use a part from the old one to get a 90 degree stop, there is no latch which I hadn't bargained for; thinking all restrictors had them but they don't. It does the job beautifully and our french doors cannot hit the adjacent transom window, so we can't complain. The action is very smooth and very silent.

As mentioned in most other reviews, there are no instructions and you need to look at a few videos to work out how to fit the restrictor.My package was supplied with 30mm self-drilling screws. I had not heard of these before and it took a while to work out what they were. You don't need a pilot hole you just mark the position and then drill/screw these into the upvc using an electric screwdriver.You can't tell what is inside your upvc door frame but I found that the screws hit something hard after about 20mm in the top of the frame so I had to substitute some shorter screws there. The 30mm screws worked fine in the door.Once fitted, the restrictor works absolutely fine.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t fit our door. With limited information it was impossible to determine this before purchasing. The lack of instructions also didn’t help. However after using google & youtube, I have concluded that this just doesn’t work for our door as there is no grove to slot it into.

The door restrictor was very easy to install as it fitted exactly into the top of the UPVC door. It was a replacement for one which had no friction adjustment. Friction adjustment is fiddly, a fraction of a turn with a screw driver just to get it right, but with a little perseverance, it's fine.
