In the Mood: 17 choral arrangements of classic popular songs

Very pleased with this second-hand book, which arrived in excellent condition and is just what I needed. It was much cheaper than the current price for a new book. It is the earlier pink edition, not the mainly black cover as shown in the image, which is the newer edition. However, it is perfectly good enough for what I need and the same version as the others have in my choir.

This has been great to keep me singing during lockdown, so I can return to the choir I sing with in good voice.

Am really pleased with this purchase. The 8-voice group I sing with has taken a number of songs from it to sing in concerts. Particularly like 'Night and Day', 'Autumn Leaves', and 'Tea for Two'. Rich arrangements, a bit tricky in places so nice and challenging.

This is a fantastic book- a core staple for choirs. The arrangements are substantial and challenging. This isn't the edition I received- mine was the older, pink cover.

This is a great selection of lovely music. The pieces are relatively demanding music to learn, for somebody with a church choral type background, but this adds to the pleasure. The end results are great, and they are great fun to sing.

There are some lovely arrangements in this book. They vary in difficulty, so would not be suitable for Choirs who are unfamiliar with jazz settings.

This review is premature, because I have not yet got my group of singers together to try the arrangements. But, although the numbers should be great fun, the arrangements are not what I was looking for. This is because the information about them was not complete. I was looking for four-part arrangements, and the information said SATB. Most of these are for many more parts than four, so that my small group of singers will not be able to sing them. Some are accessible, and I look forward to trying them

These arrangements are so lovely we really enjoy singing them. The book contains titles such as Blue Moon, Over the Rainbow, Night and Day, Tea for Two etc. Great collection and would recommend for mixed voiced group.

Aber einer der Gründe wird sicherlich dasabgedroschene, sogenannte klassische Chorrepertoire sein (was sicherlichteilweise qualitativ sehr hoch ist).Hier wird mit "In The Mood" eine Bearbeitung von 17 Jazzstandards angeboten,die ausgezeichnet gesetzt sind und im Schwierigkeitsgrad die Zielgruppe desambitionierten Amateurchors im Auge hat.Wenn Chöre (mit weltlicher Orientierung) bereit sind, sich zur Silcher-Seligkeit,zu Popmusik-Bearbeitungen o.ä. eine reizvolle Alternative zu schaffen (und Englisch zu singen), dann haben sie mit diesem Band die beste Möglichkeit dazu. Einige Titel aus dieser Ausgabe dem Konzertprogramm eines Chors beigemischt, sorgen für Abwechslung und neue Klangfarbe.Am erforderlichen Swingfeeling sollte man feilen, bis es authentisch 'rüberkommt.Alles Weitere findet man in diesem Band, den ich interessierten Chören und Chorleitern nur wärmstens empfehlen möchte!Bert Enkel
