Deliver to Australia

In an effort to return to his edgy hard rock roots circa System Of A Down, Serj has delivered the rocker Harakiri.Harakiri, Serj's 2012 solo album, is the follow up to 2010's critically acclaimed Imperfect Harmonies. The album is the third solo release from the System Of A Down frontman. As with 2007's Elect the Dead and Imperfect Harmonies, Serj produced Harakiri himself at his home studio in Los Angeles. He tried to approach writing a little differently this time around. "I used the Apple iPad as a songwriting instrument to sketch out three of the songs on the record" explains Serj. "We must trick ourselves into writing in different ways to get unexpected results." The album also features performances by Serj's touring band, The F.C.C. - Dan Monti on guitar, Mario Pagliarulo on bass, and Troy Ziegler on drums. Dan Monti also co-mixed and co-engineered the album with Serj. The album is mastered by Vlado Meller (Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kanye West).

This is what it sounds like when someone truly enjoys creating music
I applaud his moves in this work! He maintains a bold commitment to making an art of political expression while making a necessary mockery of some of the more ridiculous distractions in mainstream life. He is not afraid to shake anyone awake who is falling in love with the world we are "presented." And anyone who follows Serj to his solo works should (by now) expect his bold, quirky expressions of popular culture and politics that can be profound, offensive, and hilarious all at once. The man is not afraid to express himself, and he does it for a cause... you cannot beat that... in my opinion... He is refreshingly honest. "Reality TV" is a needed slap in the face if anyone is dumbed down.Rhythmically I appreciate how he takes the familiarity of his voice and contrasts/weaves it around some very interesting audio textures... for example in "Ching Chime" you find an almost addictive syncopation. If you are a real listener you can hear some great texture in these songs. He uses some interesting electronic work in there that I really did not expect, but he pulls it off.You can tell Serj enjoys trying new things, you can hear it on this album and you can see it in his other projects. If you have watched his work over the years it is a cool way to see someone exploring their own creativity.

love it! love it! So much better than SOAD
I never liked System of a Down...maybe a song here and there, but never bought more than a song or two from them. I also wasn't thrilled with Serj's first two solo projects. But, this one? OMG, what an awesome album. From pure, rockin metal to thought-provoking alt-metal that leaves you feeling like you just got slapped with the truth! Serj really knows how to get a message across, and his musical genius is allowed to blossum on this release...a complete 180 from the SOAD days. I love this album!!!

Fantastic!
I profoundly enjoyed this new Album from Serj Tankian.Harakiri is an amazing return to form for Serj, Imperfect Harmonies i thought was entertaining but the appeal wore off and some songs i outright did not like. I enjoyed every single song on Harakiri. If you are a System Fan or an Elect The Dead Fan YOU WILL ENJOY THIS ALBUM.Note: I did not hate Imperfect Harmonies, it was a great experiment with genre's and certain songs are some of his best.

Unique and wonderful
I was mixed between 4 stars and five stars. I wish there was a 4.5 on AmazonThe music on this album simply rocks. All of the fast songs have that awesome, driving rock pulse. The slower songs tend to be intricate and melodic. Serj's vocal style was always unique, and he uses it well in this albumI wasn't a fan of System of a Down, though now I'm curious how the rest of their albums sound compared to what was on the radio

I really enjoyed the album
I really enjoyed the album. This album seems to be a lot louder than his other albums. There isn't really a song on this album I don't like. I really think that Serj has released some great albums since SOAD and this one is definitely my favorite. Some stand out tracks on this album are "Figure it Out", "Butterfly", and "Weave On". The album art is amazing and the booklet has all of the lyrics from the songs so the physical CD or Record are definitely worth it.

THE MP3 VERSION IS CENSORED
I'd give this 4.5, if I could give it half a star, if it wasn't censored! I'm actually a bit angry at that. I hear words get bleeped out. Who knows what whole lyrics I miss? Some time I'll read the book to the actual cd to this and see.

His voice is the same as always, music varies a bit though.
this is a much slower album, and just does not have the feeling that the earlier releases have. listen to the previews and decide for yourself if its a must have. I just snagged it on sale, and for that price its decent. full price not so much
