Ever wondered what it would be like if Jack white cloned himself with Ozzy Ozbornse DNA and they went back in time to steal little bits of Zeppelin's influence? This is the kind of music that you play loud and people in other cars are like "Oh hell yeah" instead of "what the hell is that" The album rocks through and through. They know when to play and when to pause as in Dimension, to give it that weightless feeling you used to feel before you wiped out on your bike as a kid. Joker and the Thief is adrenaline throughout. Woman gets the most air time and would be the most popular off of this C.D. aside from Vagabond that was in a commercial, but you don't hate it even after hearing it for the 400th time. Its worth it start to stop

Excellent album but was very disappointed by the track order. This is one of my all time favorites and I just cant enjoy listening to it in this order. This is the original and the only order it should always be listened to:1. "Colossal"2. "Woman"3. "White Unicorn"4. "Pyramid"5. "Mind's Eye"6. "Joker & the Thief"7. "Dimension"8. It is an indisputable fact that real rock has gone by the wayside. Often we hear of a band that has brought it back, only to find out they missed the mark by a long shot.WOLFMOTHER has hit that mark and obliterated it! The crunchy chords; the distortion; the somewhat muffled drums; the vocals out front: it has the ingredients that made their predecessors huge. If you're into that 60's and 70's hard rock sound that was coined by bands like Jo Jo Gunne, Spirit, Spooky Tooth, Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath (with Ozzy), and Pink Floyd, then you will love this album!"Wolfmother" is the closest thing we have to that feeling our parents got when they first put Led Zeppelin's IV or The Rolling Stones' Sticky Fingers on the record player. They were blown away, just as you will be when you get to Wolfmother's "White Unicorn" or "Woman". Powerful, rockin' songs that MUST be played loud!"Apple Tree" has a bit (just a bit!) of rockabilly/50's pop hiding beneath those power chords -- ingenious!The song called "Joker and The Thief" is the only place that I can hear The White Stripes connection that some are making. If you like The White Stripes it shouldn't be a stretch to enjoy these guys as well; all without feeling like you're cheating on The White Stripes."Witchcraft" has that Jethro Tull sound that has made its way into so many bands' influences. Somehow they manage to once again show their influences without making you go, "Oh that's so Jethro Tull." Okay, maybe some can.If you are new to Wolfmother, then this album should be the first one you buy. It has most of the songs that are on the singles, and much cooler artwork.And for crying out loud, go see them live! They are coming to America (from Australia) in 2006!

When I first heard of Wolfmother, it was via Guitar Hero 2 playing Woman. I never heard of Wolfmother and thought it was some made up band name. I thought Woman was some recently excavated Led Zep artifact, and how wrong was I! What I love the most is the combination of classic rock influence and psychedelics that make up the Wolfmother sound. I could listen to this album the whole way through at least once a day if not every other day just on the tones of the instruments. The WAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!! In the very beginning does catch one off guard, but once the music begins to play, it's hard to ignore. I think the whole vintage thing is a turn off for some people. Me personally, I love it. It's a break from the rehashing of "Post Grunge" and "Nu- Metal". Don't get me wrong- there's a time and place for the likes of Staind, Godsmack, Breaking Benjamin and Puddle of Mudd, but Wolfmother is a breath of fresh air. I'm sure my mom would love this cd actually and that's pretty cool- it does sound like something that would've come out when she was in high school. I love the funky groove of Love Train- it's something a little different from the rest of the album and keeps things interesting. Wolfmother has a definite sound throughout the album and the album is held together pretty well musically. I would definitely recommend this offering and anything with the Wolfmother name attached to it for that matter.

One of my favorite albums. I was introduced to Wolfmother by the first Guitar Hero video game. When I heard more of Wolfmother I was hooked. Their sound in this album sounds a lot like Led Zeppelin, but different. So many awesome songs. Some of my favorites are Joker and The Thief, Woman, and Vagabond.

This album, without sounding too unprofessional, is just plain awesome. The self titled album is amazing from start to finish. I would usually listen to a cd only once all the way though, and then after that just skip around, but this is the only one that I can listen to over and over with out getting bored.The track Woman is especially ground breaking, taking old style rock-n-roll and mixing it with neo-punk and funk to create a truly special and unique sound. The track entitled the Joker and the Thief is also simply decadent to listen to. I feel like I am cheating on the rest of my collection by showing favoritism, but I really don't care when I am listening to WOLFMOTHER.It is akin to The Raconteurs, The White Stripes, or maybe Spiderbait--however it is truly its own creature and simply one of the best albums I have heard in years! No joke!

The album that started all this 1970,s retro rock thing thats going on in rock music for the last few years. It killed the band as at the end of it all only Andrew Stockdale was left. This coct pennies, buy it then buy bands like, GRAVEYARD, GENTLEMANS-PISTOLS who sound the same but better.

I just keep playing this, it contains elements of many 60's,70's and other bands I love (Doors, Zep, Sabbath, Purple, Hawkwind, Floyd, Black Keys,) but keeps things fresh and there's a sense of character and good humour running though it all. Fantastic.

In the process of replacing albums that have either walked out of my house on their own or not returned when lent out, or when they were returned they weren't in the best of condition. Been buying second hand albums and so far I've been really pleased with what I've bought. No complaints. Wouldn't have replaced them if I had to pay full price so I'm very happy that Amazon has given me the opportunity to do this.
