Orchard Aesop's Fables

These are very short versions of The fables, perfect for young children or children with short attention-spans and they are absolutely perfect if you are looking for good quality stories that are short for reading your child bed-time stories. They still capture the stories very well. My son loved them! I started off intending to read one a night to him but he loved them so much, he demanded another and another, so I ended up reading three or four a night by popular demand! We laughed out loud at some of them so he was very happy when it came to snuggling down to sleep. A great way to foster a child's interest in the classics and capture their imagination. Each one ends with the moral of the story that, if you wish, you can discuss in-depth with your child. Lovely illustrations too!

The book is well printed, and the font size and large pages make it easy reading for children. I found the book ideal for adult reading to children, and the illustrations captured the attention of the recipient child (my grandson).

I bought this book for my grandson who is five. We read several of the fables together as I was putting him and his little sister, who is three, to bed. Because the book is full of pictures and the stories are short, they were both able to listen and enjoy being read to. And it allowed us to talk about some of the morals behind the stories which was fun. I'd really recommend this copy of Aesop's fables, which are classic literature for both young and old. It's a really good introduction, It brings the fables to life for a new generation, Michael Morpurgo's writing is a joy and is paired beautifully with Emma Chichester Clark's illustrations.

I have always loved Aesop's fables and this book provides a good introduction to children. The stories are short and straightforward. The illustrations are just beautiful. The children thoroughly enjoy listening to them and have fun thinking about and discussing the possible moral of the story (they always come up with good and sometimes surprising suggestions.) I have also used this book as a starting point for drama - the children "flesh out" the story a little more. This is a good book.

This is a lovely book to read to young children. These famous stories are retold by the author in a simple, easy and amusing way. Not too long for bedtime story reading and lovely illustrations for them to look at,talk about and discuss. A good introduction to Aesop's Fables which are stories with a moral. This is a classic book to buy as a gift for young children. I've bought 4 copies of this one and would recommend it.

I bought this as my 8 year old who had to write his own fable and it seemed a good place to start! The book is beautifully illustrated and I think I enjoyed it as much as he did reading the fables and the morals behind them. It certianly helped to inspire his creative writing flair, something I struggle with for an 8 year old boy! Also, a nice book to have on the bookshelf to refer to.

I like this book much because I intend to give it to my grandson who will be 7 soon and it has lovely pictures and can be easily read by him.

Love this book. There are colored illustrations that match up with the story. I read this to my 4.5 year old boy before bedtime. He seems to enjoy the stories. There are lots of fables in this book. A great buy
