Dental Floss Holder / Grip Handle

It works, but it's only good because it's less wasteful than disposable products.
It's much bigger than expected, to the point where I'm pretty sure this isn't the same item shown in the picture. However, it works fairly well. It has a significantly better design than the other option available on Amazon. It allows you to put tension on the floss by squeezing the two prongs together while you add floss. This keeps the floss quite firmly in place. So, I have found that the floss does stay in place, so long as you don't accidentally get any moisturiser or oil on the product, so for example if I moisturise my hands at some point before I add the floss to the device it makes it more slippy. The wheel that you wrap the Floss around to add tension actually rotates on the version I have, which seems to help in removing the floss if it gets tangled. All in all I think this device is very good, it enables me to use a flossing tool without using disposable plackers etc, which makes me a lot happier because I like to take care of the environment. It will be better if plackers just made a wooden version are biodegradable version, the tool is just a little bit inconvenient. I don't think the device is an improvements upon the disposable plackers, other than being less wasteful.

Floss wouldn't stay attached. Big and bulky.
I couldn't get the floss to stay put on the device, so it wasn't any use to me - I'm not sure if it was because I prefer a waxed floss that slips more easily, but the floss kept slipping off the arms and was hard to anchor on the body of the device. The arms seemed to flex quite easily which certainly didn't help. The whole thing was rather larger than I expected. The size meant that it was not easy to manoeuvre around back molars. All in all, I'm afraid it did not work at all for me and I gave up trying to use it after a few frustrating attempts.

Very useful
I have just bought one of these as a replacement. I had the previous one for a few years and have found it very easy to use. One thing that I did do was to stick a floss container to the bottom of the handle with tape. Then you don't have to waste any floss. You just pull out a few more inches and loop it round as necessary. The only tip I have is DON'T pull the floss too tightly, as I did that and broke one of the legs of the flosser - hence the replacement. The first time I ordered this item, it didn't arrive. I contacted the seller, who told me the date that they had sent it, but also sent another one which arrived a couple of days later. Very good service.PS. The first one never arrived.

far better than any of the wee disposable flossers
Flossing without the risk of garotting fingers - it took a couple of attempts to get the right tension, achieved by squeezing the two prongs together before wrapping the floss round the knob, so not really suitable for those with weak hands sadly. For those who can affix the floss, though, far better than any of the wee disposable flossers.

Easy to use
I have MS and my hands are frequently numb and unresponsive. I hate to use the pre-loaded floss harps because I cannot hold on to them; they are so thin and flimsy. This holder makes things far easier. The handle is chunky enough hold and feel, the floss wraps around easily and can then be unwrapped, moved further along and re-wrapped. It's going to be more economical with floss too than the usual 'use once, then dispose of' regime we all use. All in all, it's a huge success, for something so mundane and cheap. Try it.

Dental Flosser
You need to remember which way you have wound the floss onto the handle otherwise you get in a tangle trying to get it off when you've finished flossing. Consequently it takes time to wind & unwind flossing string and is too large to comfortably reach back teeth in any thing other than a very large mouth. I will continue to use it as the alternative is using your hand to try to get to the back teeth.

Why doesn't every dentist/chemist stock these?
I've always hated flossing and I realise that it's not only because it's hard to hold the other end inside your mouth but that in doing so you can't see what's going on. With this natty device, it's easy to see where to aim it and the job is done in half the time.It should also be less wasteful of floss: you only use an inch of floss at a time, so by cutting it generously you can just move the floss along an inch on each flossing.

Handy tool; amazingly grips the floss well. The only reason it's four-star here is that it seems a little bit too big - the forks seem too wide apart and would be better matched to the size of the more expensive Wisdom Easy Flosser.
