Q: Is this actually a liquid? I hope to paint a thin layer on the inside of a mask.

No not liquid. It is a soft clay for moulding and air drying items. However it might be possible to mix with water to make it more of a slip?

Yes this is modelling clay and it hardens up completely in about 1 month - or before. When it's hard - about a week - you can use sandpaper to fix your products, and you can paint them - if you want that. I think it is a fantastic clay, and I have used it for years for my sculptures. When they are finished I usually say one month to make them completely hard as stone, maybe that is a little too much, but just to be sure, if you are going to sell them. So buy Paperclay - you will not regret it. And one more answer - When I have finished my sculptures I paint them with Paverpol transparent BEFORE I patinate with a color, then they will - as I use to say - last for more then 100 years. :-)

I would say so yes.. not as sturdy as a fired and glazed dish obviously but should wear well enough..
