Draper 46609 Metric Dial Gauge Set

Excellent quality Draper DTI with magnetic support base and extension, with various accessories. For the serious machinist and engineer.

Working on milling machines, I need to use one of these every day so I decided to buy one of my own rather than keep looking for the factory floor DTI. The plastic box it comes in won't win any design awards but it is functional and keeps everything safe. The magnetic base has a good weight to it. The magnet is strong and doesn't move when fixed to a good surface. The base also has a recess so it can be easily fixed to round surfaces. The actual DTI itself works well. There are three stylus attaching areas on the DTI, these are small dovetails. The fine adjustment mechanism for setting up the DTI on a job works well. After two weeks of use, I haven't found any problems. I haven't used the DTI with plunger yet but it looks OK and comes with plenty of extra tips which should suit most jobs.

Excellent well packaged product it is as discrided it has more accesories with it than I personally wanted so it will cover most jobs requiring accurate measurements.

I have mixed feelings over this. The first: there is no country of origin on any of the pieces; the box just says "imported by". Second, the 0-25mm dial back plate is plastic. Don't know how durable that will be, as there is a mounting lug there. Doesn't scream professional use to me. The mechanisms seems quite good though, the mag base is good, and having a variety of points is a real plus.

I use this to check the straightness of shafts in my radio controlled helicopters, along with the V blocks to suppoprt the shaft

So far so good. But I haven't used it yet.
