These interfaces only run about $95-$149 or so and have two channels. **Q: is the shock mount as bad as some describe?** A: Yes. Don't get it for the shock mount. Get it for the superior sound and the floating point recording capability. I'm using the shock mount and it's workable, but it is a significant downgrade for me. I don't know what shock mounts are compatible, so you'll want to look into that. I've not owned many in my lifetime. **Q: Does this come with software to allow you to record and then edit the 32 bit float gain? I don’t see that in the Rode connect podcast software.** A: It doesn't come with any software. What ever you find on the site is what is available. I actually prefer this mic to the much more expensive Shure SM7B. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Can't get any better than this *by A***N on 16 June 2026* After a journey of trying out multiple microphones over the past couple of years, you will never find a microphone that does its job better than the RODE NT1 5th Generation. In addition to it's USB and XLR versatility, not much is needed to make it sound great! Most microphones at higher price brackets are known to have their weaknesses, typically being a weak high-end which makes the sound muddy, but thanks to the frequency response, you only need to tame the 5th editions' by a couple of decibels to flatten the sound for greater accuracy... While the SM6 shock mount that came with could be better (mine's pop-filter was built slightly off-axis, which makes tilting a little difficult), the amount of kit you are getting with the price is a no-brainer; All that's left is a stand, which is easy to come by...
