Update! The one type froze and cracked after I forgot to dump the water out. I was pleased to see I could get just the replacement tubes, in a set of two! This is a great rain gauge!We just put in new grass with irrigation. I need to know how much rain we get to save on the water bill not using sprinklers. This is just the right height in ground and easily read from 20 feet away! It’s discreet as well as attractive. Clean up will be a breeze due to size. I just love this!

I got a rain gauge years ago that sits about 5” above the ground. The rain always splatter dirt from the ground on it. After wiping dirt off over the years, the marking got sanded out to almost unreadable. With historic rainfall we were getting in CA, towards the end of the atmospheric river trails, I decided to replace it. I was surprised at how big it was but I really like the numbers are really big I don’t have to pick it up to look at how much rain there was. Being in So Cal, we rarely got more than an inch of rain so the old one that could take up to 5” of rain could handle that. However, I was out of the country from mid Dec to mid Jan. When I got back, the old gauge was completely overflown and I found out we got over 10” of rain while I was gone.This one can measure up to 7” so I was well covered this year though may not get it too often to see that much.The best feature of it is that the stake has two prongs so it stay put in the ground and the tube sits very high above the ground. Since I put it in, I got over 5” of rain once but no splattering of mud can get up to coat it. The number is so big and clearly display, I can tel just by walking by it how much rain I got without having even to bend down. It’s worth every penny!

Love this product until a cold snap. Live in Southern Delaware- 2 days of temps in the 30s and it cracked.

This rain gauge is so easy to read! The base is in two pieces that fit together easily to stick in the ground. The glass gauge is big around so you can easily clean it out when necessary.

The pieces wouldn't go together until we removed a "plug" from the bottom of the basket. Accuracy remains to be seen. The gauge itself has a crack in it - a small star and crack, even with the bubble wrap - no package damage, so...perhaps it was damaged before it went into the package to start with. I won't return it. I've got a product I can make work at this point, but I sure won't recommend it.

I bought this rain gage as a gift for my husband.The last one he had was made of cheap plastic and broke.He lives it!Its easy to pull out of the ground when mowing the yard.It’s very well made.I would recommend this product.
