Mediocre pop-ups, interesting display feature, poor construction quality
The Minecraft official pop-up is a medium-sized pop-up book with five spread pages, featuring an overworld base, a village, the netherworld, a stronghold with a end portal, and an Ender dragon. All five pages feature pull tabs for some alternate action, but neither of them are truly special paper engineering-wise. The Ender Dragon is easily the most impressive of the pop-ups. There are no miniature pop-ups on any of the pages, and the text is a simple story of a normal Minecraft game playthrough. At the very end though, is a special "page" that is basically a giant folded emerald block with a diamond pickaxe stuck to it. Unfolding it into a display piece is an interesting concept, though I feel it's slightly unfortunate it doesn't incorporate the other pop-ups like what the Game of Thrones one did.For the five pop-up spreads, I'd give it three stars, and add one star for the emerald block concept. However, the book itself appears poorly constructed and fragile, with at least two locations that weren't glued properly. And then for the second purchase in a row, my copy came damaged where the cover meets the spine. This is an especially fragile place for any pop-up book, and unless extra care is taken during shipping, it's probably better to buy one in person. One star deducted each for the construction quality and damage respectively, for a two stars overall rating.
