Joy [DVD] [2016]

I couldn't even remember what made me choose this by the time I got round to watching it but super.I couldn't have any expectations and was extremely pleasantly surprised.An encourager of a film when a whole lot more encouragers are really needed.Thank youAdding, I just noticed I bought this last December! Should have watched it ages ago!Nevermind, I'd have enjoyed it no matter when I watched it as it's a real encourager.

In the same vein as Erin Brockovich, this is a story of a young mother struggling to manage family, work and financial commitments. She comes good with the invention of a mop! This film doesn't have the same edginess as Erin Brockovich but Jennifer Lawrence tries her hardest to carry the story. Not so sure about some of the relationships in the film and where they are going, or not! I recommend this film if you want to relax and have a night in with a pizza and a beer.

Good film

What a great performance from a strong leading lady. The film was excellent well worth the price £? the storyline of the film was excellent, I was made up with my purchase. The film was a good film to watch the storyline was excellent, done on a big budget well known A actors, it was a ( joy ) to watch 10/10 for everything, if you like my review go ahead and purchase it, I can watch a film several times and see something I didn’t see the first time I have a TV in every room in one bedroom I have two (2) televisions I have 4 blu ray players & one normal format dvd film player. I will be purchasing a 4G DVD player & a 4G TV then I can purchase 4G film’s.

The story was good overall, but it started off strong and ended weakly. The sheer guts and tenacity that Joy showed in order to make her dreams a reality against all the odds and obstacles (and there were plenty of those), had you cheering her on. The ending, however, was very disappointing and seemed scrambled together and not well thought through. A very bland and lacklustre ending which made me question why I paid to watch the film in the first place!

I found this movie very touching and it proves determination does win out over difficult obstacles sometimes.Best wishes, Herbert Howard Jones (author of Lady Collendon's Cook).

Miss Lawrence gave a creditable performance in a film made about an ordinary woman with money worries who has a bright idea and follows it through to invent, organise manufacture of her idea and sort out con artists who cheat her. Other well known actors all played their parts so well that I felt quite bored when the camera went off Miss L and on to them. It is not a film I would watch again in a hurry.

I had heard this story before about the lady who invented the mop which was featured on QVC Channel...this sterling version which does of course stretch the truth. Robert De Niro does a splendid turn as the father of Jennifer Lawrence in a spectacular turn for her disruptive and dysfinctional dad.The story is very wachable and in many parts funny and does strtch the truth...but very entertaining and Jennifer Lawrence is often in a comedy mood.

Un film un peu long mais qui retrace l'histoire de la vie de Joy Mangano. Une inventrice géniale qui veut réussir dans la vie mais qui semble avoir la poisse. Déjà elle est issue d'une famille assez pauvre et un peu barge ce qui ne va pas lui faciliter la vie. C'est une histoire prenante et on stress avec l'actrice Jennifer Lawrence qui est extraordinaire dans ce film. De Niro son père est pas mal non plus dans un rôle un peu en contre emploi. Un bon film que je recommande.

So führt uns die Erzählstimme von Joys(Jennifer Lawrence Oma Mini(Diane Ladd) in die Story ein. Eine Story, die über einige Jahre geht, jede Menge Irrungen und Wirrungen aufweist, manchmal komplett verrückt ist und einen zentralen Mittelpunkt hat: Joy! Die Frau, die niemals aufgibt. Angelehnt an eine wahre Geschichte hat Regisseur David O.Russell einen Film auf die Leinwand gezaubert, der komisch, unterhaltsam, tragisch und lehrreich zugleich ist. Dabei driftet –Joy- manchmal schon fast ins Surreale ab. Überrascht mit Traumsequenzen, Rückblenden und hervorragendem Schauspiel. Für das sind vor allem Jennifer Lawrence und Robert de Niro(Rudy) zuständig. Doch auch alle Nebenrollen sind grandios besetzt. Da zuzuschauen macht wirklich Spaß.Joy war ein verdammt schlaues Kind. Als Erwachsene ist sie immer noch eine clevere Person, die gern tüftelt und erfindet, aber Zeit dafür hat sie kaum. Da ist ihr Ex-Ehemann, der noch im Keller wohnt. Ihre Mutter, die das Haus nicht mehr verlässt und nur noch Seifenopern schaut. Zwei Kinder, die jede Menge Zeit beanspruchen. Ein Vater, der gerade mal wieder bei einer seiner Beziehungen rausgeflogen ist. Und die Großmutter, der ruhende Pol und stärkste Rückhalt in Joys Leben. Als Joy die Idee zu einem neuen Mopp hat, den man auswringen und waschen kann, ohne sich die Hände schmutzig zu machen, versucht sie noch einmal ihr Glück mit Patenten und Herstellungen. Tatsächlich schafft sie es zu QVC ins Werbefernsehen und der große Erfolg ist greifbar nah. Aber Joys Verträge haben eine Menge klein gedruckte Buchstaben und außer auf ihre Familie kann sie sich auf niemanden verlassen. So endet der große Deal in Joys Leben zunächst im Fiasko. Aber Joy gibt nicht auf…Gegen alle Widerstände geht eine Frau ihren Weg; und wir dürfen zuschauen. –Joy- ist ganz wunderbare Unterhaltung für einen entspannten Abend vor dem Bildschirm. Der Film lebt von seinen guten Ideen und den starken Darstellern. Am Ende steht Joys Motto „Das bin ich!“ Genau so soll es sein. Dafür gibt es von mir die Empfehlung zum Anschauen.
